I was just threatened with my life.
so yeah i was working, and i work for the sac bee walking door to door selling subscriptions(i know im an ass hole) and i went down my friends street PINKFLAMINGOs and his dad ordered something. i then arrived at one house further down the street, and i met with other guy and he decided to go up to the door with me to see how i worked and i rang the doorbell etc. and he answered and i started to give him my little speech and he stopped me and said, "you need to tell the sac bee to stop harrasing me." at this point i was taken aback and i asked "may i ask how they are harrassing you?" and he said, "by sending me free copies....etc" and i apologized for his inconvinence and he started to raise his voice and started asking for a buisness card and told me to tell sac bee, and at this he is looking over his shoulder every word he speaks. i told him, "im sorry sir i dont actually work for the sac bee we are a contractor of the bee." this seemed to anger him more for some reason? and he asked the name of the company which i didnt know and i told him this is my 4th day on the job i honestly dont know. then he looked me dead in the eye and said, "i dont like 2 guys coming up to my house and 9:30 at night(actual time 7:50) and casing my house!" i responded "excuse me sir this is a snowboarding jacket? and i apoligize for your bad experience." then he said "look theres 2 options u give me a card, or i call the cops." i smiled and said sir we are doing nothing illegal, theres no "no soliciting" sign and u willingly answered the door." he then said well look next time you come to my door light or dark it'll be with a gun, get the hell off my property!" i laughed and said "ok sir you do that have a good night"

everything is amazing, but everyone is an idiot
Standard policy at my house is to answer the door in my SS tunic when the JW's or solicitors come knocking. Works like a charm.
As soon as he got hostile you should have just walked away. I dont know how you can not even know the name of the company you work for. :?

Where's the threat to your life?? Telling someone that "I'm gonna answer the door with a gun" isn't a threat on your life.

Bizcuits has a very good and valid point. I go to alot of those types of calls. Kid(s) knock on door selling whatever. Home owner asks a few questions, kid doesn't give clear answers, home owner says no, kid keeps going on with speech, home owner gets worried, calls us.
this whole situation make me LOL
Im with biscuitz, but in the City of Roseville, you need to carry a Business Permit and a form of ID from the company you are working for. A lot of times you will just get told to leave, but if the citizen wants them to cite you they will.

I dislike people thinking I am the bad guy, but sometimes that is just how the clues pan out. Like the time I "tried to run over a cop." 3 people beside myself saw him change lanes into the lane I was pulling into at the same time (almost colliding with me). Could happen to anyone. But I only brought one witness to court. I didn't know the name of the street I was on or how far away the cop was. But the officer had carefully constructed notes (half were wrong, and my witness corrected me when I agreed to some of them). These notes at least sounded official. Needless to say it was a failure at best on my part and I was out a couple hundred bucks with a good lecture about unsafe driving from the judge.

Hehe, well I do get this urge sometimes to just kinda creep into the same lane as cops. I just can't control it. It really must be that face paint you speak of.
