stupid G3 SG1 Q's
hey guys, I'm looking at getting a G3 SG1, and I was wondering if you could answer a few of my questions. Firstly, how is its reliability? I know it's TM, so it's probably pretty reliable, but what about at high FPS upgrades? (450ish) ??? Also, will the plastic body be a problem after a while, or should it hold up as long as the gun does? Thanks....

One of the people we play with has one which we swear is an original from when Marui first made the G3 series. This thing is at least 5 years old. It has held up remarkably and the only thing we have had to do is a little cleaning in the mechbox to get it back to its original performance.
you look hungry...how about some bbs?
yeah.... thanks for making up my mind for me... I wanna go with 400. LoL... I was debating that one. No, I don't think it would make me better, but I was considering making it an AEG sniper. But yeah, if I leave it 400, I can still have the full auto option. Thanks so much for the info... really appreciate it.

Even 400 is alot. Hear me out for a sec....

You know what? You're a smart guy... LoL. Thanks a lot for your input. How much difference will there be in range with 350 FPS as opposed to having it at 400? What I really am looking for is a gun that will reach out and touch someone, but not a gun that is so hot that it will hurt from a long distance. I was thinking it would be a reasonable FPS so long as I know my limits and am careful about my engagement distance. I have an SR-16 that shoots 320 with .2's, and it just doesn't seem to have the punch or range that I want it to. I don't want to have to constantly sneak up on someone to have to take them out... I just thought it would be nice to sit back and relax, and pick off some stragglers every once in a while... lol. Anywho, thanks so much for your information..... it's helped.

Yea I would say 350 is plenty. And the beauty is you can get 350 with just a pdi 150 and bushings without sacraficing any reliability.

lol.... true, true. Besides, my goal is absolutely NOT to hurt anybody, just to kick some arse on the field. Thanks so much.

"F" all that your buying a G-3 SG1 this is marksman weapon by definition. Almost everyone I know is shooting ~400 fps. I have a TM G-3 SG1 it shoots 400fps  ok maybe more but whos counting. it also has a cyclic rate of ~1550 rpm the total price of the gun [$300], internal upgrades, Battery [$40] and Drum [$110] = $650.00
350, 400, both are good, just depends on your style. I have a fully upgraded G3 SG-1 that is shooting 490, and I swear my M4 shooting 400 is more accurate. And that pisses me off, I spent alot of cash on the G3. Oh well, its only money right?...Want to buy my G3 SG-1? :D

high fps doesn't necessarily mean that youre going to get tons of distance.

Thank you MR.Reyes. That is what I have been trying to tell people for a long time.

Unfortunately, in airsoft what's on the outside of the mechbox doesn't really make a differance on performance. Wether you have a G3, MP5 or M16 variant - they are all pretty much going to shoot the same with that V2 mechbox.
Ray's got the MOVES!
Sg1s are cool.
Look, I'm a politician, which means I lie, and I'm a cheat.
At 450fps, you'll be above the fps limit of most public fields, but way below the standard of a sniper rifle. Wheres does that put your gun? If you want to hunt those stragglers, then why not invest in a full blown sniper rifle like the APS-2? Too lazy too go chasing for the Opfor? Play video games..... LOL :D
Putting things aside.

LoL... I'm not too lazy to "get off my a$$ and chase around the opfor"... I was just wanting a little info on the effectiveness of using an AEG as a sniper rifle. I'm glad that you like the ASP-2-- frankly, I think it looks like a piece of $hit. Granted, it is a very effective and accurate piece of $hit-lol  - it's just not for me. I was just wanting a "hypothetical" analysis of what the gun would perform like. Thanks guys for all the info... I think I'm just going to stay clear from getting another rifle for a while. I have to fix mine first. LoL!!! Thanks again,
