ASBG 7-2-11

Jul 3, 2011 5:37am
As per my policy of making sure to note when I see something that is positive in our sport, I feel the need to give some major props to the guys over at ASBG tonight. And I was kicked out!
I'm sorry, was that your face?!

I think it's great you took that so well. I do agree, it is very irritating to see when a field plays favorites and it's good to know that they stick to it, and will boot out even a regular paying customer. And it's great to know that there are people who understand rules and don't freak out at every thing that doesn't go their way. props to you both!

They did the right thing, Kal in every game they remind players that the F bomb is an immidiate kick. Doesnt matter if you are a regular, rules are rules. Im regular and I have been kicked out for yelling at a player who kept poinint a laser in my eyes, I told him if he does it again ill beat the shit out of him with his own gun. HTe ref looked at me and said you know what that means. I laughed and said see you next week. He laughed and next week I came back.
Jul 3, 2011 8:07pm
And his intentions were to be pissed off and yell at the guy. They set the rules, inform you of the consequences and that's that. You know what lies ahead when you do something wrong. All I'm looking for is consistency. If they are that strict the majority of the time, I applaud them.

What exactly are the rules, and why did you get kicked out?
[quote="Amateur Ninja"]obviously you dont know him.

im sorry did the guy who shines a laser in your eyes get kicked out aswwell. did the cheeter get kicked out as weel. Where in teh ASB rule set does it say no cussing. where does it say any infraction will result in immedate expulsion. becuase if thats true tom needs to go home every single night i have ever played. I belive that bad language has no business on a family poriented feild, ut iron fisted ways will nto allow them to flourish, im nto saying dont kick people out. If you see a bad behavior corrct the behavior if it continues remove the problem. you dont have to be a push over bu tyou dont have to be a tyrant either.

It doesnt say NO cussing, they alow words like crap and hell but other words you get a warning they say litterally do not use the F bomb or you get kicked out. I have never heard Tom or any other ref swear. As for the laser moron he was booted, but I think 260 pounds of me threating to do grave bodily harm to him worked.

Yes he knew, no he didnt get it confused, and yes he knew it was against the rules. It was a blatant violation of the rules and overall stupid youth using it. They annouce it every night at the beginning and almost every few games. I also happen to know that player was there FROM the beginning of the night. I was hit in the eyes about 10 times, the refs were all shouting to stop with the laser and when I was 20 feet from I asked him to stop flashing me in the eyes and I aksed quite nice. He denied he was doing it and I watched him do. I was 20 feet away with a clear line of sight.

see i don't agree there either. if a ref is wrong which does happen just like umpires or football refs, ref do get it wrong sometimes, thats why most sport require multiple refs to see an offense. You can just back up your ref because they are your refs. The ref has to be 100% in the right period. And im sorry telling you to shoot down your sights and then when you point out the obviously flaw in their own statements shows a complete lack of consistency. 99% of all players do not look down their sights before firing, do these guys get kicked out for blind fire? obviously their rules for wait is and isn't blind fire is completely subjective...

KaL I agree with you. It should be on everything and it should be huge. But have you ever though about it? A regular only hears the briefing once. And from there thing could be stated more than back when they first started. Also every time I go to battleground I always hear them saying no f-bombs or cussing. And I go almost every Saturday, aside from the weekends ive been gone because of family matters.

Look let me clarify i want them to succeed i wish them all the greatest in the world we need more airsoft fields. But like it was said we need consistency. And with insurance and regulations of airsoft fields coming up, these are question that need answers. Refs as well as players need to be held accountable and in the highest regard. Refs are not infallible. I saw a vet ref accuse CPairsofter (evans) of cheating, and as someone who knows him , i know he didn't. People make mistakes its a fact of life how we handle the mistake when we are confronted with them is called character. Refs can acknowldege when they screw up and apologize just like everyone else, and they should be confronted when they are wrong, not just giving the green light to be an asshole. To many refs abuse their powers Just like to many players don't call their hits. Austin and Tom ahavetheir worked cut out ahead for them, and having fair refs and a good stock of players ios a good start but pissing off every parent of every kid who made a simple mistake and got kicked out of the field instead of teaching that kid the right way by mmakingthem sit out a game or an hour (time out) to learn from their mistake is wrong. All kicking someone out with out some kind of teaching does it make people angry for no reason. Teaching people what they did wrong and how to correct that behavior is how we are going to keep these fields alive. Ddon'tgive in to the aalmightybuck like wayne at galt, but don't kick out every player for every little infraction that comes along, i guarantee you the parent of that kid sure as hell wont understand that you didn't give a 2nd verbal warring and neither will news 10 when the parent calls them, or the sac bee.

Sounds like what 'blind fire' is and WHY there is a rule against it needs to be better understood by the refs.

So basically what I've read is most people completely agree with the rules etc, they just want consistency. I know when I was there there was a guy who straight up cussed and got angry at the guy who runs the place (f bomb, bullshit, etc) cause the refs were saying how they didn't want to be shot. Did he get kicked? No. He got a warning. An hour later my friend left a mag by accident in his gun buried under piles of crap (even if the gun was functional, and fired, wouldn't have done any harm) and he immediately had to sit out a couple of games.

See the Galt field thread for an example of why regulars should not be given special exemptions.
