Ideas (I know scary)

Mar 24, 2011 1:48am
Not that I have one, but does anyone have any ideas for how else we can deal with the exploding private sellers section?

Kid PM'ed me after I locked his for sale thread. And he is a kid, says his parents won't let him go to a game, so posting is basically the only way he can meet our rules to post stuff for sale. I told him to wait and I'd get back to him, highlighting my concerns that he was neither a known person amongst the community or attending games in the community and simply posting spam to get to the required post count.

I removed a FS ad in someones sig this week and told him that that was not an OK way around the 50 post rule. Total BS. I am about to the point I'm not even going to PM people as to why I am deleting there crap anymore. They know. If they don't they should learn to read.
I think the best thing to do is have Sardonic Nuke the hole front page, and go back to just a board like years ago. This way there wont be a top "10" to have cluttered with FS posts. you would have to go in to the FS section and search.

I think we should amend the FS rules to say you have to have played with Sacair at a Sacair hosted game OR have someone who has vouch for them. It might be tough to know if they have or have not, but we do tend to notice who signs up for games when we host them.
Sardonic aka Steve is working on some code to either eliminate the FS thread from the top ten or lower it to the bottom five.
Mar 24, 2011 2:48pm
Cool Steve. If he could remove it all together, or just have current game posts show up it would be cool.

If he could I would say just get rid of them entirely from the front page.
how about just no bumping FS threads at all... May be a little harsh,
how about if you bump something it needs to be price dropped atleast 5% or 10%....
Mar 24, 2011 9:01pm
I don't know about the no bumping, we've all sold stuff here and most of us have got some pretty good deals here too. I don't think the problem is that there is stuff for sale, it's that people are coming here JUST to sell. Not everyone checks the site everyday and sometimes people just don't see new stuff FS until it's bumped, even without price changes. I do like moving it up to 48 hours or shit... even once a week would work. But to totally get rid of it isn't really needed I think.

yea, I do agree. I was just throwing out the heavy ideas.

Just an FYI, you can change the front page view to show up to the top 30 posts.

By all means, keep it locked. I also don't believe anything he says.

Keep his thread locked.

There is a serous epidemic of people just inserting into other threads the fact that they are selling guns.

Shut it all down for now. Issue bans for fucking around and inserting FS ads in to threads. Shut it down for the weekend, come up with news rules and go from there.

Good deal Johnny, now we just need to figure out exactly how we want to handle the situation.

If we don't know them, haven't met them or don't know the person vouching for them, no dice!

What would be the best way to keep anyone who isn't aproved from posting? It would be a pain for us to have to constantly be deleting non aproved posts... and we all know that these tards aren't reading the rules to start out with or ignoring them.
