If the main point is because they are 'indistinguishable in the dark', then how will painting bright colors help? Sure you can see them in low light, but in the complete dark? Anything shaped like a gun could be seen as a gun without light. People will paint them anyways.

Even if the gun was a bright color/had an orange tip, the proper way to handle the situation is shoot. Why? cause then all bad guys would have to do is color their guns pink/orange/yellow or whatever, and the police won't shoot them when they point their guns at the cops. When you're a cop, and someone is pointing a gun at you, whether it be black, orange, or bright pink, you shoot. You have no idea whether it is REALLY an airsoft/bb gun or not. This dumb @ss idea will not help.
