I agree, Biz, but I think it's equally or more important to point out the reasons this bill will fail to make the public safer. Painting the guns a bright color will end in more people treating these non-toys as toys, carrying them in public, and creating more situations that can end in tragedy.
I can understand your passion BlainO but the idea of having a "red-tip rally at the Capitiol - mags out and no batterys" would only exacerbate the cause. Contacting your local representatives is the best option to helping defeating this bill.

As an officer, I wonder if the esteemed legislator who authored this short-sighted bill, will explain to the parents why I will need to start arresting children playing with brightly colored airsoft guns in public. After all they are already illegal to display in public. Brightly colored or not, have 'em in public and off to Juvenile Hall they will go... Parents will love it.

I would imagine that the State will need to amend the current law that disallows airsoft guns being in public. If the Legislature thinks this through (Legistature and thinks = mutually exclusive terms), I can't imagine they would want 'Toy' guns shooting pellets 400 fps in the hands of children running around parks, housing tracts, schools etc.

"Dear Sir,
Soldiers sometimes take a bullet canary into battle. When the lead content in the air rises to dangerous levels, the canary keels over, warning soldiers that they're in peril.
