Mr. Newbie here

Hey I'm new here and want to get into airsoft. I don't have any equipment yet but have a budget a bit over 200 bucks (from what I know not much) but I may put a bit more into it. I'm interested in sniping but I heard you can't really get a good quality sniper for anything less than roughly $400 or so.

We play various fields, most up near Yuba City.
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.

People say that you need an expensive sniper or upgrade them but really you dont. As long as you know what your doing and zero out the scope. I have a UTG L96 and I got it for 150 bucks off of airsplat.com. Then you need a scope. I got mine from a friend, but a good one is really only 40 bucks. Good luck!

Yeah I heard that the L96 is a good one, I was also thinking the Well MB05 which is pretty much the same thing but looks sweet.

My first gun was a CA MP5, and I still use it to this day. It doesn't have the range of a sniper BUT I could care less. It shoots about as far as most M4's I've seen plus I don't have to worry about the 100ft. engagement distance that the snipers must adhere to.
I have always acted in self defense, occasionally pre-emptive self defense.

I already read the rules, at least the ones off the "Rules" link on the left. I heard multiple times that I should try an AEG first before anything, I would have still thought about purchasing a sniper rifle if it weren't for the minimum of 6 games without rule there which I did not notice. So thanks for the sniper info even though it won't be useful for a while.

Maybe look into a m14? I've owned a lot of M14s and m14 based guns and I really like them. They have range and accuracy and they can be upgraded in the future to be good "sniper" rifles as well. Just a thought... best of both worlds there.

your best bet would be to go to somewhere like AEX and handle a few of the guns there. see what suits you best.

Go to AEX 1st, talk to the guys they are very helpful. Even if you are not going to buy from them they can help.

I don't plan on spending under 100 a gun. I heard that a lot of cheap guns are exactly that. Cheap, and last probably a couple weeks and break or something. Though the CA guns are a bit more pricey and may be out of my range.

How's K&A? Sincemost of their guns are pretty pricey it gives me the impression that they are good quality but they have a $100 UMP. Thoughts?
