Dodge Weapons Carrier
It will be at my house next weekend. I have to find a trailer to tow it home with, but it's mine. I found it while out on route (UPS) in Dec. Left a note on the door hoping to buy it, I had pretty much given up hoping they'd call. Then two days ago she did. It was her dad's, he bought it in the 1950's as surplus. They used it around the property and drove it all over the area I guess until her dad died in 1991. It's been sitting since then. It's VERY complete and in really good shape. Only one small area that is rusted. There are a lot a extra parts in the back. Some really neat stuff too. The only major things I could see were totally expected. The wood wheel well covers were gone, rotted away. And the wiring is totally gone. The tires are garbage, and the seat is made of old carpet that has grown it's own garden. So it's going to be a large project, but not nearly as bad as it could be. And the price was awesome. I'm very excited. I will be updating this thread as I start the rebuild/repair.

Nice can't wait to see that thing up and running. I take it that it doesn't run any more. Oh and I love the all natural seat upolstery too.
60% of the time it works, every time.
if you need help let me know ;)

that's friggin awesome!!!
I think my dad is willing to go up with the truck to help. Now for a trailer...
Great find!
"The faster you finish the fight, the less kil't you'll get."
HOLY HELL. One of the harderst truck recoveries I've ever done. The first hour we were there we had moved it less then 3 feet. Two flat tires and a hole it's been in for 20 years and it did not want to budge. The fact it was POURING rain didn't help anything. Sadly I forgot the camera for the getting it out part. Finally I "walked" it out by jacking up the front end off the ground, pushing it off the jack to the side. THen going to the back and doing the same. Once we got it facing the trailer I used my land crusier to pull it... or actually DRAG it out. A couple of sheets of plywood under the two flat tires (the back thank god) and we dragged it onto the trailer with a come-a-long. It was a bit of an ordeal, but it's here. Tomorrow I have to go back and help the poor lady repair her driveway. Between the Land Cruiser spinning it's tires and the Dodge being dragged, I tore up her graval driveway bad. Plus, it was raining and windy and nasty out and I desided I'd just come back for all the spare parts we had taken out of the bed and had laying all around. Soo... here are the photos:

that's friggin awesome Ryan!! LOL, I like the 'natural' camoflauge, the green 'mold'!!!
Got all the crap cleaned out of it. Took the seats out and pressure washed the whole thing. The more I dig into this guy the happier I am with the overall condition.

After opening the drain plug and seeing the sludge that was coming out, I desided to remove the oil pan and get all the nasty stuff out of there. I removed the spark plugs and put some Marvel Mystery Oil down there to let it soak for a while.

I may not be mechanically inclined, but I can provide beer and witty commentary.
try checking the coil
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.
My bet is on the coil, or at least the wiring to the coil. The distributor cap and rotor are brand new, the points are perfect. The generator may or may not work, but we've got the starter hook straight to the battery so it should be able to start and run off the battery for a while anyway... The wires to the coil are nasty. I will be poking around the engine a little more this afternnon and see what I can figure out. I ran out of daylight yesterday and wasn't able to really check out every thing it could be.

Looks like a 6V system with a generator. Rip out all the wiring and rewire with a alternator and 12v system. That thing is probably silly easy as far a wiring. It might take you a day, at most. The hardest part will be fabbinng a alternator mount. Looks like fun.
You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos...How You like me now?

there should be a small capacitor attached to the coil by a ground and a short lead. this is the condenser on some older vehicles. in newer coils, it is integrated.

I'm trying to keep it as original as possible. It is a 12v system. I have no idea if the generator that's in it works, but if not it's only about $100 to have them rebuilt (last time I checked). The wiring is pretty simple, but it all needs to be redone badly. I'm going to end up buying a wiring harness for the whole truck... it's all pretty much messed up.
