Ghillie suit worth buying?
Is a ghillie suit worth buying for the fields in Sacramento?I mean like is there alot of brush to blend into?I was looking at woodland Ghillie suits, not desert. Is it like trees and bushes everywhere or just plain grass and thats it?thanks for the info
You should probably come out to a few games before you decide. Yes the areas we play in are for the most part woodland terrain, and I know one guy who uses his ghillie to the fullest, but he also has ALOT of patience. You should first determine your style of play before investing the money.

yeah, are you talking about the guy with the MP5? That dude has a ton of patience, but is very, very effective (he has capped my ass more than once!). Yeah, the fields are great for Ghillies!!! I would follow Black Ice's advice, though, and make sure that that's your playing style. It'd look kinda funny to see an assault guy charging up a hill with a ghillie suit on!
Tree down. Repeat, tree is down.
Sacramento has extreme weather. Very cold and green in winter.....very hot and dry in summer.
DISCLAIMER:
latex or a skirt will do wonders for airsoftting...

Ya I've got one too, but I havn't used it yet... If you want to make one, which is what I did, buy it from ghilliesuits.com. It costs like 70 bucks and a few weeks' work. If you don't want to make it, you can get thier suits pre-made.
Tell ya what, you buy the material and I'll help ya make it? Are you in the Sac area? I'm usually off work around noon. Maybe we can meet, I'll show you how to make one INEXPENSIVELY (spell check!?). The hardest part is cutting the strips. I've done about four for myself and have helped on numerous ones.
Sacramento summers + Ghillie suit =
You should check out the Russian equiv to the ghille suit ....not as heavy and underlayer is mesh so not as hot and movement is not restricted....good enough break up for VDV + spetz...shooting Chechen rebels w/ SVD....should work just fine for shooting at us lol http://www.redsoldier.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=47

Yah very true, after doing some research they are deployed to not only snipers but whole recon units too, so im guessing it would not work all that bad in an assault role if need be, good for flankers...maintain speed yet stay hidden when needed all around a blend of both world. BTW Red Soldier is a first class company out of Texas, friendly people with fast no BS shipping.
Okay, yes ghillies can be issued to whole recon teams, such as LRS-D's and such. Depending on the mission. We're not going to ruck around one unless absolutely needed. Usually the designated shooter and spotter of a team will move up for a surviellence, in the ghillies and the rest of the team provide security further back. Remember, Recon does not attack at manuever, Recon does just that, recon and provide intel. Division Recon sends intel to Div and Force sends it to MEF. On Army LRS-D, sends it to the army division commander also. There are also other deep recon teams that go in further and provide more intel with in enemy lines. The teams can also be deployed in a blocking position to act as an "anvil" while conventional forces push enemy forces toward the blocking. Once they are with in range of the blocking team, close air support, artillery or naval gunfire can be used. Wow, does that sound familiar!
