Front Sight Removal

Mar 20, 2011 5:58am
I bought a KWA M4 today (and brought it to ASBG :D ) and wanted to put a red dot on it. Is there a way to remove the front sight post? I saw the pins that appear to hold it together, but I do not know how easily these come out or how to do it. If not, I can buy a carry handle rail mount.

yeah depending on the set up(and which kwa m4 you have) you might be better off getting a different upper. more of an sr style, with out the big bulky annoying m4 blade style sights ^^

It isn't the RIS version, just the regular KM4. The handguards won't stay secure with it off? Can't I buy a gas block to replace it like this one?

i had the normal m4 handguard version and theres a little blocker which keeps them together and stays in place, the handguard was a little wobbly but its really not to bad

now! my suggestion of a new upper wasnt necessarily the stupidest if you knew were it came from, one i love kwa m4 bases, but i'm not a big fan of the m4 look. i prefer more of the sr-12 styling. and two seeing as how he has a stand none railed m4, it would also make sense to swap uppers out for one with rails, if optics isnt the only thing he plans on doing with the gun, or would consider doing more if he had rails.

ok 1st question is how bad is the front sight in the red dot scope? if it only comes up 1/2 way into the scope (basically where t6he red dot sit right on top of the front site post) then that is basically called co-witnessing and that is ideal. if that is the case I would do nothing. if the red dot goes right into the middle of the front sight then just get an optics riser. they are about 20 bucks. that way if your batteries go out on the red dot you can always go back to iron sights!

Pretty much what he said. Any of the aimpoint m4 replicas or acogs replicas will be at the proper height. Your red dot should be set right on your front sight post.

First off, thanks for all of the suggestions on what I should do. I think I am going to go for the riser option. The red dot I have right now goes right into the middle of the front sight, so that doesn't work : P I may purchase an ACOG instead of running what I've got now. Thanks again for the advice!
