Hey so I am going to be starting on a 1911 project. Nothing huge, just like getting a 1911, buying a custom slide/grips etc for it, and maybe swapping some internals and such. mostly going for sex appeal though :P

KWA is not TM compatible.

tokyo marui all the way, they are the best hands down. none can compare.

yeah TM is my first choice. do they have a metal lower? also does anyone know if the AEX (the one that just moved from antelope) carries them still? i knkow they had them a couple months back

usually they do not have metal lowers. Best way to find out your other question is to call them or check on their website

does anyone have a link perhaps to some of the above mentioned slides? I'll be going to aex this week so i'll check in about a tm 1911 hopefully

Best thing to do is speak to the guys at AEX.

if your going for a metal body buy a tercel off ehobbyasia it has a full metal body cost like 100 after shipping and comes with full TM trade marks and is 100% TM compatible. All you would need after that is the custom grips

i've never heard of tercel. is it any good?

yeah I've got 2 and they actully shoot better than my TM 1911. I wont trade these for anything. And I highly reccomend them to anybody on a budget looking for something comparable to tm

Hey I don't know if you already got your hands on a 1911 base or not but if your still looking I have one going cheap. It's plastic though. But if your willing to buy it before Christmas I might knock allittle more off the price for ya.

Yes they do, but the specific link i showed was of one cheaper than the others ($120). Every other guarder kit (the ones that you are thinking of) cost $150. As far as i can tell they don't make an meu version for $120. Which is why i asked

Ok so finally (after much anguish) I have put the 1911 fully together. only thing that went awry was the back piece of the lower frame (the one that is part of the slide system) broke off by my stupidity..never try to work on a gun you are angry at..lol. but it is only cosmetic and barely noticeable. gun currently cycles great for the most part.

Not sure. It's whatever was stock with the TM 1911 meu, and i bought the TM used so it probably is pretty old/used

Just wanted to say that I had pretty much fixed the problem, and then i added 150% springs to it which irradicated the problem completely. And it made the gun's blowback and such feel so crisp and amazing..I love it. And it currently shoots just as far as my primary (which has a 570 mm inner barrel). I am planning on putting a TK twist inner barrel in the 1911, followed by a newer outer barrel. After that a new leaf spring thing (since i slightly bent mine) and this project will be completely done with! Might get another set of grips...just for fun
