Thoughts on WE

Dec 28, 2010 9:07am
Hey just thought I'd do a post about the airsoft brand, WE. They exclusively make GBB guns, both pistols, and full guns. Their gas systems have been iffy but have greatly improved, especially with the release of their m14 and g36. I'm really excited with what they have done/are doing for the airsoft industry. What they have done is not only released lines of affordable, decent quality pistols that are quite unique, but also introduced unique gbb guns that have only been seen in AEG form such as the m14, pdw, scar, and g36. Now the pdw and scar gas systems weren't the best, but at least WE tried to do something awesome. not to mention they have outrageously low prices on their guns.

I also just saw a couple of pics on a prototype AK74U and a P90 from WE as well. and from what I have heard and read WE is going to try and drp a new GBB model every couple of months for the 2011 year. I think it is absolutely great what WE is doing for the airsoft community, they are paving the way for a whole new era in airsoft.

I have yet to be impressed by the GBB's, but I do have a WE 1911 Dragon which is a great gun at a great price.

If only their GBBR's worked like TM GBB's...I'd pay twice as much for their GBBR's for that kind of performance/reliability/quality...

The downsides to WE guns, and additionally, GBB rifles in general, make them a very hard sell. WE guns, made of pot metal, will not last half as long as a TM or KWA sidearm, for a price that is fairly close. Their mags are cheap and easy to break, and in addition, the GBB rifles have an immense amount of problems, cooldown, expensive mags, mixed accuracy, and a low bb count really downplay the "cool" factor that comes from firing them.

Ehhh, not that impressed with them honestly, its the quality of their parts that seems to be a major issue. Its nice that they made have branched out, but their pistols and some GBBRs still leave much to be desired.

Perfect example is their new Browning HP, looks pretty good, performs awfully, it's simply a copy of the crappy Tanaka model. A wasted opportunity to fill a gap.

I have a WE 1911 and its iffy to say the best. What I've noticed is the low quality of their pistol mags.

i have 3 WE hi-capas and 2 WE 1911. they've definately gotten better over time. my first one was a dragon when they first came out. my last one was the gold 1911 a few months ago. metal quality definately improved. the paint finish is still pretty weak, they scratch pretty easily. they work fine and they are not gas guzzlers like many people say but they are nothing spectacular or amazing. their fps is average at just above 300 fps. stock blowback is pathetic.

To answer inferno's question first: Yes. The base models for Polarstar's HEPA systems run 400-800 and will eventually offer a M240B or M249. There are a few Youtube videos out on the polarstar M4's in action.

The Polar Satar PR15 is a fantastic gun, my boy Z runs one and has it converted over to run off of a simple Duracell 9volt battery ( not 9.6 but 9volt) not to mention it is programmable to burst anywhere from 3 to like 10 round burst, and he is hitting around 50RPS at 350FPS. I am personally 50/50 on the PR15. 1 it is an extremely awesome gun you can empty a 160rnd mid cap mag in like 3 second (no shitting) but that is the part that gets me a little on edge about the PR15, it is so unrealistic with being able to shoot up to 60RPS (Polar Star themselves have gotten it up to 70RPS) But on the flip side you can actually regulate the RPS.
