I know I've posted these here before, but I've desided to start getting back into the RC warship combat and took some "before" photos. I am going to start with the USS Kidd as it's the most complete and the least damaged. While rebuilding and repairing the Kidd and other ships, I'll add new photos. Right now, all the ships have been totally gutted and I've been getting them all ready for new parts. RC stuff has evolved a lot int he 10 years since I was doing this, so a lot of new internals are in order for them to be on par with the stuff that's out there now.

the prinz looks legit!

The Germans built some badass ships. The Prinz Eugen was the only German capitol ship to survive the war, and the US was so embarassed by how impressive of a ship it was they blew it up at Bikini Atol. Even then the ship survived atomic blasts and might have survived had there been damage control teams to stop the flooding.

Funny you mention them actually as the group I used to fight with is WWCC out of the bay area ( I used to live in San Jose), I know they are closely linked to strike models. I actually just ordered some plans for a Yorktown class CV just becuase from them a few days ago.

Got most of the internals fitted into the Kidd today as well as the guns into the cruiser.

Nice, I found a bunch of paperwork this weekend, I build the USS Kidd in 1997... so a lot has changed since then. I was amazed last year at how much stuff has got more high tech and smaller and just all the neat things that happened while I was out of the game.

Tonight I built another Devastator and Dani built a Dauntless. We got all the planes painted and landing gear on them. They look pretty good condisering with started with a couple of sheets of balsa and a razor.

There is a ton of micro stuff on the market now, it wont be as hard as you think.

Danielle, Sheep and I have been hard at work on new ships. Two American Fletcher class destroyers and a British Tribal class destroyer.

what do they shoot? and what are the torpedos made of?

They shoot bbs and ball barrings. The smaller guns, fire smaller ball barrings and bbs, the battleships guns and torpedos are 1/4 inch ball barrings.

You have to build them. Either from a fiberglass kit, or from plans using plywood.

Installing the torpedo guns!

Do you have any video of your ship in action? Sounds fun to watch. What's the fps those "torpedos" are shooting, any idea?
