SCUBA?
I'm leaving for Hawaii tomorrow morning, and I was wondering if anyone here is an avid scuba diver and may be able to recommend some dive spots or possibly rent me a piece of equipment for the week i'll be there?
Kona is pretty sweet diving but i always wanted to do some wreck diving out in pearl harbor.

If you haven't had previous lessons, and don't want to waste time with them during your trip, you can always try SNUBA. An air tube is connected to the boat with O2 and you dive with the tube. I didn't get to try it cuz it's still pricey, but my uncle told me it was excellent. You can still go decently deep, but most of the reefs are shallow anyway.

Are you going to be on the big island?
I have done both SNUBA and SCUBA, I recommend either although I personally enjoy being untethered to the lil raft that has your tank on.

I am a dive operator here on Oahu. While you can't dive in Pearl Harbor (it's an active Naval Base), there are other sunken WWII ships, a Corsair fighter plane and a tank on the island that we dive pretty regularly. If you are a certified diver you can dive them as soon as you get here. If not, we can certify you in a matter of about three days. Give us a call if you are interested - would love to show you what's down there...

Man, I would love to get back into SCUBA. It's been soooooo long though and most of my stuff was stolen. It was a lot of fun though.

There is some great reef skin diving here as well ... but the wrecks are all to deep too see while snorkeling. Either way, being in the water here on Oahu is... well... Paradise!

Again the question is which Island are you going to? I have dived at several places on three of the Islands and have enjoyed it very much.
Life is a bummer if you're not a drummer!
I'm certified Advanced Open Water already... I just arrived in Hilo today, going to be diving on Wailea beach area in Maui, molokini, etc. I'm looking at diving St. Anthony's wreck, the Hellcat fighter, and the sunken personnel carriers, all located near my resort in Wailea.
Sounds like you have a good itinerary already planned for yourself. My recommendation would be to dive with Lahaina Divers - they are a first-rate operation and really nice people (www.lahainadivers.com). Tell them Patrick from Pearl Harbor Divers referred you.
