A good noob gun?
Hi i am just getting into airsoft with my friends and i was wondering, what is a good beginners weapons one of my friends recommend something like this http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=2331 what do you think?

Any Classic Army Sportline edition will work. Around 100 bucks used on Craigs list and 150 range new at AEX. That is what I went with and now it's my loaner gun. They shoot around the 320 fps range. The big 5 guns advertise the 400 fps range but they break faster. My spotrline is 2 years old and still going.
They can have my guns when they pry them from my cold dead hands.

get a cyma thompson. had mine for 2 years and its never had one problem EVER. most reliable gun ive ever had
When you think it's safe to go back into battle...well look for my stick grenade.
i to have a sportline but ive put to mutch money into it way to mutch
Ditto on the Classic Army sportline. They're very inexpensive (not to be confused with cheap) and reliable. If after playing with it for a while, you decide to stick with it, the sportlines are just as easy to upgrade, and metal bodies are readily available anywhere.
I'm sorry, was that your face?!
yep thats my next purchase then itll be complete i swear ive spent a grand all together with every thing ive purchased

ive had one problem ive stripped a gear using a 9.6 with no internal upgrade yet i was on the trigger alot that day and it had about 20-25,000 bb's thru it all to gether
Cybergun Thompson aren't too bad had mine from big5 for about a year now its full metal 400 fps with .20 and has a great range id recommend getting one but they're about $249 got lucky and got mine for $129 , it's a great "noob" gun.

If your really budget minded i would say get a Cyma. I have 2 of them and there great. My M14 has done pretty well all year. Solid and reliable, by all means not the best but dont let name brand purists defer you from Cyma's. They are like the Kalashnikov of airsoft. Cheap Rugged reliable. Ive seen poeple kwa's break all the time, but every gun has the same chance of breaking down on you. But at least if your Cyma breaks you wouldnt care that you spend 300+ on a paper weight.
You could just look for deals here. Lots of people have solid platforms that need some attention and they are very fair on price. If you do buy new, I don't think you should cut corners by buying cheaper platforms it's better to invest in something solid. You will be happier, and I will be too because I had to deal with clones breaking on me and that made me saaaaaaad.
I've had great experience with Echo 1, http://www.airsoftgi.com/index.php?cPath=139_24_163. I've owned 3 and sold them all to my friends, they still are working flawlessly and I've never had problems with them. There fully upgradable and echo 1 has a fantastic part availability. Some of them shoot upwards of 400. My friend nelson and i went to Airsoft Battle Grounds and alex chrono'ed it at 420, so he had to put his hop up all the way up. btw +1 on the cyma tommy.

I have to throw in a vote for cyma m14 or thompsons. I have owned a number of both and never had an issue with any of them.
