Are KWA pistols frowned upon?

Apr 1, 2011 8:41pm
A few months ago I purchased a KWA MKII 1911 in tan. I used it on propane. Mistake. The gun has more problems than are imaginable. Ive been told many times that KWA's are not good on propane and they arnt that good of guns. So after about 2 months I switched to green gas, immediately noticing a drop in performance, but less cleaning was needed. 3 out of the 5 months the gun was actually working I used green gas and by the 5th month I was tired of fixing problems from the daily. It started with the hammer catching the slide, so I had to make a custom spacer to go on my spring guide. Next the slide catch and slide were wearing ridiculously fast. After about the 3rd month it stopped working completely. Then the firing pin that pushed the gas release valve malfunctioned every shot making my gun a 1 shot wonder. I took apart the gun, became frustrated then gave up. Its been in a shoe box for a few months now.

Green gas=propane+silicone oil+scents

I have a NS2 kz75 KWA and love it. But i have only had for about 3 months and run exclusively green gas after hearing horror stories about propane in KWAs. I think if your fine paying extra for Green Gas then KWAs are great but if you want propane and upgradability go with TM. But for me, my stock gun outperforms almost all TMs right of the box and even some that were upgraded but not very well
impossible is nothing

Almost all the guys that I play with have pistols including KWA's and they are all prone to breaking.

My TM 1911 has lasted me the last 3 1/2 years and its still going strong. TM is the benchmark for pistols, they last and shoot flawlessly. My KWA glock 17 broke in less then 6 months with little use. My 1911 has seen constant play including around 8 FT.Ord trips.

If you want something that does not need any immediate fixing and fires every time you pull the trigger...get a TM.

Seems to me like KWA's are bit more picky then TM's. They require more care in order to dish out peak performance.

I've owned 3 KWA pistols. I had the Original KP45 for 2 1/2 years without a single problem, and the only reason I'm not using it today is because it was stolen at a game. The Original version of the M93R, only problem I've had with it is the mags are a bit fragile, other than that it works flawlessly and out performs every single GBB pistol I've ever seen, and I've had it for 2 years now. And most recently I got the NS2 version of the KP45, and I haven't had a problem with it. I could just be lucky, but I like KWA pistols.

I don't regularly clean/ lube my marui glock 17. Lol. Probably has over 10,000 rounds through it. Lol

Ive owned my NS2 KWA Mark 1 PTP GBB pistol for about 2.5 - 3 months now. After owning one can of green gas, i was done with it due to the outrageous ridiculous price of 1 can. I now use propane for ALL my gbbs, ive had absolutely ZERO issues with my mark 1 using propane. Just make sure you spray/add silicon oil in the top port before threading on your adaptor. Thats probably what the KEY problem is. Many people just use propane straight without adding lube to the port.
Need Batteries or AEGs to be wired to DEAN Plugs? Message me, I do Dean plug work for a low price.

I have been using marui pistols for nearly all of the almost 8 years I have been playing, the shoot hard enough, outstandingly far, and have been completely worry free for me. currently running a stock TM desert warrior.

I had a KWA 1911 a bit ago (the mark II NS2). That was an amazing pistol shot great, far, accurate, and had awesome blowback. externals were great too. I didn't have it for too long though, but i used both green gas and propane in it. never had any problems. i currently though own a TM 1911 w/ a guarder kit and that works like a dream. If you can I'd definately recommend a TM with a MBK. The quality, feel, and shooting power etc is just unbeatable

TM is the golden standard of GBB pistols. However with that being said, unless you order direct from overseas, you more than likely WILL NOT be seeing them stateside per se in mass quantities like you did in years previous. When AEX get's TM pistols in, it's generally a dozen and that's it.

i've had my kwa m26r for alittle over a year now, and have had very few problems with it, the biggest problem i had was when my best friends g/f's little brother got ahold of my gun, and all sorts of shit got broke. other than that, with the exception of me breaking a mag, have had very few serious problems, most of my problems are temporary mystery problems that come and go for no apparent reason. i would gladly choose another kwa pistol(in fact looking into the railed m9 currently)
Play, shoot, laugh, enjoy the game.

I love marui pistols. Definitely agree with the fact that they are the benchmark for gas pistols. But I own the KWA Mk 4 PTP and it shoots flawlessly. Quite hard, very straight, and without failure. With .30's in my kwa, I can reach out to 150 ft with ease, putting my sights on target, not lobbing shots. I rarely clean/ lube my kwa and it works great. No problems.

As far as KWA pistols go, I hate them. I bought a kwa glock 17 and the first day I had it, the firing pin came loose, got it fixed and 3 days later its mag starts leaking to the point where it loses its gas in 5 minutes. Overrall I took it to AEX about 8 times in a matter of 3 months then finally gave up on it. TM pistols rock, get a TM pistol. My spring 1911 was 20 dollars and got more kills and worked better than my KWA glock 17.
When you think it's safe to go back into battle...well look for my stick grenade.

I believe KWA Pistols are indeed frowned upon... much like masturbating on an airplane.

I bought my KWA almost a year ago. I love this gun. Dev's works great as well. Never saw what the problem was.

I have a KWA MAC 11 and it works like a dream. Excellent gas consumption (almost 2 mags per fill), great power (350-380fps), incredibly easy to disassemble, NEVER malfunctioned on me.

My first sidearm purchase was a KWA G17 in 2006, I still use it as my primary to this day. I liked it so much I tracked down 2 more and use them all. Mine have been very reliable and the only thing I would replace them with is a TM. However, I have many extra mags for my KWA's so I'm not rushing out to swap with a TM until mine break.
I have always acted in self defense, occasionally pre-emptive self defense.

I have no idea whats going on with peoples guns, but I have always had good performance from mine. Maybe its the type of kwa's people are getting?

I have owned KWA's and KWC's and have had no issues with either one of them. They come from two different factories but are generally the same design.

Well, after having read this entire thread, I'm going to have to give a +1 to the guys that suspect that you had a lemon. I've had good enough experience with both KWA, and Tokyo Marui (having owned 3 of the first and 3 of the latter), and both brands are excellent. My leanings now are towards KWA right now for a couple reasons.
I'm sorry, was that your face?!

I've had my KWA G17 since January 2007. So far, all it's needed repaired/replaced is 2 blowback chamber springs, a magazine catch/release, and it's sights (accidentally broke them).

I always see people bitching about WE pistols, and how horrible they are, but what exactly fails on them?
