anyone ever remove the pinion gear from an EG-700

need to replace the gear on my EG-700, kind of worn out. do i need a special puller. i seen several gears at aex that use an allen set screws. if not, guess i can grind the gear off??? any ideas, thanks for any input.

You just need an allen wrench. The gear your talking about is the pinon gear, and most likely the allen wrench you need comes with it. I know the CA ones do. If not you can get it from home depot.

yes you need a puller ..if you try to pull it off with out a puller you will damage the motor . I would go with grinding

I have a puller. And if you use the pinions with a set screw. You'll have to grind a flat spot on the shaft for the set screw to tighten against. And use loctite on it.

I've removed a pinion gear without a puller and I didn't damage the motor or the pinion gear. It just takes a little bit of ingenuity...
