In a shimmed gear box I'm having the bevel gear whine. It is the interaction between the bevel gear and the pinion gear. Using a *colored transfer* the two gears are making solid contact and adjusting the motor heigth does not effect the noise. Even took the top shim off the bevel gear just to check.
