Where to buy spring airsoft guns (not clear ones)
I'm from NYC, where everything is illegal, and I'm in Sacramento for another week visiting family; I told my boyfriend, who does tactical shooting and likes to practice with the spring activated airsoft guns (not gas or electric) that I'd try and find one for him here since he can neither buy them in NYC, or have companies ship them. However, it seems like there are only fancy gas/electric ones here that look and feel realistic; the spring ones are all transparent (such I was told.) Anywhere to buy black, realistically weighted spring airsoft guns?
I don't know myself. You may be stuck going the gas route (least expensive but not inexpensive). I personally have not seen a spring realistic pistol. Not to say they mey not exist, but in all my shopping around here I have not seen one.
Behold the Coolness That Is John
marui makes some nicer spring pistols but i have never seen them at a US retailer.
i heard on the news some Ice Cream trucks were selling them :D
Well, they used to sell pretty decent ones at Big 5 but now they are banning/re-designing most springers due to under-age kids bringing them to public areas. I think your best bet if you want to buy a springer is through an online company. I would invest in a gas gun myself.

Thanks; he has found them online and through e-bay, but companies won't ship them to New York City, which is why I offered to have a look while I'm out here in Sacramento and then ship it myself. The gas-powered ones seem nice, but wouldn't be worth the money because he isn't interested in airsoft competitions or scenarios or whatever. He just likes to practice at home with the spring powered ones because I guess they somewhat approximate the look and feel of real guns, which he can't shoot in the city, but otherwise he does tactical shooting out at ranges and shooting clubs.
On a related note, doesn't it seem silly that they are redesigning the spring loaded ones? I'm not to knowledgeable on the specifics of airsoft guns, and I'm quite the liberal, but when I was checking out Big 5 to see if they had anything, they had all these funny looking clear guns, and then very real looking BB guns in the next case; I don't see how you can do any damage with a little spring gun, but my uncle has a glass eye because of a BB gun. I don't know, it seems like misdirected regulation.
i have often wondered about bb guns, and their lack of orange tips. i know they are not replicas, but i have one that looks very much like a p99 that i got at big 5.
the store that got me/bakafetus/hardcorejulio into airsoft i think is called "Great Guns" there i purchased my first airsoft gun, a Desert eagle springer. It's on the corner of Auburn/Watt by the Denny's
Ya, springers are great, that's how my family and I got into airsoft and then eventually evolved to our AEGs and GBB. How funny a gun in your hand can change you and make you enjoy a new hobby.

you could always buy a springer and put metal weights in, that's what I did. Most California retailers don't carry the TM high quality springers, so you're just stuck with cheaper alternatives.
I do have a UHC MP5A3 I believe. It's a springer rifle made by NeoSoft if you are interested. Looks real but doesn't have the weight like a real MP5. LMK if you are interested. I didn't know if you wanted a rifle or pistol but decided to put it up on here just in case you were interested.

i got a p226, almost 2lbs, metal barrel, shoots BB's, easy to disassemble, ill let it go for $10 since its my favorite springer :D

Well that is how we started here. We got springers off ebay and we started playing in mike, sardonic and my backyards. We moved up to gbb and then aegs pretty fast.
