City Ordinace for Airsoft??
Hey guys,
"Fat guy...... in a ........ little coat!"
i have neighbors that bi**h at me shooting my pellet rifle, and my airsoft rifle. u arent supposed shoot them at anyone or over fences. so i jsut make sure my bullets stay below fence line, and when im not shooting at anyone, set up a pellet trap so i have a target and a safe shooting area.

I just read an ordinance Bill that states its ok as long as the gun has an Orange tip.

I don't think I have any problems with shooting in my backyard, but if the nutjob next door calls the cops and my guns don't have an orange tip, I may lose my guns etc.....

Welp, here's the deal. From what I know, in Kalifornia, airsoft is classified as a bb gun (hence the reason, by law, they're no longer required to have red tips on them. The red tip is federal law and, as you know by the fact that we can't have real "assault weapons" in Kalifornia, it means that local law takes precidence.), which is not legal to shoot within city limits. That's right, if you own a Gamo, Daisy, etc.... and you live in city limits, you're not allowed to shoot it in your backyard or frontyard. You can still shoot it in your home. Just not publicly.

i believe you are right Kevin.
Isn't there a difference between having one that shoots metal bb's?
I was told by a cop that it is Illegal for me to shoot my airsoft guns in the backyard, in the city of MArysville. I love the county laws.

From what my city states, is that anything that shoots out a projectile even 6mm is considered against city ordinance. Even a sling shot is against the law. They told me that if a neighbor were to call me in and say there is sombody shooting a gun in their backyard, since the cops don't know it's airsoft, I could be in big trouble and even get shot. Lucky for me I don't have neighbors that complain or see me when I shoot. =)

Back in the day when we first started to airsoft, we were shooting in the backyard of a friends house and a neighbor called the police saying we were shooting weapons. The cops game in guns drawn. Then we set everything down and told them its airsoft they looked at it and laughed. Then they said the neighbor was a dickhead and we were doing nothing wrong... this is in Carmichael.
yeah i think technically, kevin is right but i'm sure most police are reasonable enough that they won't care if you shoot it in your backyard. it's just stupid neighbors that get you in trouble. neighbors blow sometimes.
What's a signature?

Yes, fortunatly for us, Carmichael is in County jurisdiction. If I want to shoot my airsoft guns in my backyard, which I own, then that is what I shall do. Your property is YOUR property. Just don't do stoopid things like shoot at birds, over fence, etc. I spoke with my neighbors that I have a "sub-bb gun", and they were cool with it. Still looking for a place that I can go to that has at least 100 yards that is local and airsoft friendly. I really need to sight in my airsoft rifle at full hop. Any ideas?-John

I read bill and it clearly outline the term ââpublic placeââ means an
I said "100 Yards" for breathing room. Don't really want folks to be driving by, see me shooting, and call the cops. It's just a hassle. Yes, 100 ft is around max accurate range for airsoft guns. I don't really like to advertise what I am doing to the whole world. -John

Just don't go to a real steel rifle range as you'll never hear the end of it from other shooters, LOL.
