Ukau's Field-- New Management--Opinions Wanted
Well its been a long while and it looks like ALOT has changed in the airsoft scene. Long story short, I have regained ownership of my old field. (FYI I NEVER NAMED IT AFTER MYSELF... LOL)

Just heard the news yesterday. I'm glad you were the one to regain ownership.
congradulations!
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.
I have high hopes and ton of reservations. I personally put a lot into that field and dealt with a lot of garbage over the years from that field and its previous management. While i hope you can make it a good place again, the stigma associated with that field is huge and will be a tough fight for you.

Upkeep and fixing the structures, filling holes and cleaning up the random stuff, a real kill house, also the field is well known as a cheater field, bad customer service, lack of refs, and certain teams doing whatever they want. Thats what needs to be worked on, the rep is the biggest thing that needs to be fixed
get rid of all the stupid tagging, turn it into a "scene" rather than a bunch of shit in a field. Make the environment believable.

MikeH brings up a good point. The more you can develop a "scene" or set the more immersed people will feel. That adds a ton of value to every customers experience. It would be a costly venture to try and theme the whole field but even dressing a couple of the buildings to start with would change the experience, and adding new sets every month or two would give people a new reason to keep coming back. I've spent the last few years as a set builder and decorator for a haunted house, and would be happy to offer ideas/advice and maybe even volunteer my time/skills if you were interested in pursuing that idea.

I am VERY excited about this

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Never been heard a lot about the issues already described but just coming from a potential new customer with lots of airsofting friends I think a townlike area with believable structures and obstacles would be cool but with good refs to keep it fun.

Stoked to hear about this. We need this for the Airsoft community. Be sure to post up and let us know when you are back in business and we will be there to support this.

I worked at Hollywood Sports in LA for several years and we did paintball and airsoft. When I was there, the thing I appreciated most was having a game running constantly. We did this with multiple teams of refs: while someone was out in the field, another was prepping a group to go out there. I hate having a 30 minute to 1 hour break between games. I payed to play and want to leave exhausted.
I am pleased to hear that the field is back in your hands, I had a lot of fun playing and reffing there back in the day. Keep the peep/shoot holes to a minimum, have some areas where people can shoot long distances if they want, encourage the use of thunder bees another airsoft grenades, make sure the refs (plenty of refs) are on the field and deal with cheaters the way we always have and I'm sure you'll be fine. I also would have no problems with volunteering my time as a ref if it meant I get got to play one or two games during the day.

Just a heads up. The grand re-opening will be this Saturday!

Well where do i start went last Sunday the 22nd and it is a much better place to play now!! Congrats on reopening and getting the place in order my team and friends want to actually go to the field again. My suggestions would be to have two 2 story fortresses with an outer wall at each end of the field for re-spawn points and siege scenarios. My reasoning for the spawn points like that is it gives some place for people to cover teammates as they re-spawn and a way to move out into the field without being spawn camped. My second suggestion would be to have a shooting range off of the staging area that has solid targets (chest size and random smaller sizes) at 25, 50 and 75 (100 if there is room) yards to test, sight in and practice with our guns. Lastly a food truck there are a ton of them that will come to the field and most of them will pay a fee to you around 10 percent of there take to be at the field there are a lot of hungry/thirsty people at the field and no one would have to drive any where and the kids that get dropped off by there parents will be able to get stuff. Those are just a few suggestions GLAD YOUR BACK! and no tolerance for cheaters will take the field a long way!!!
I have been off the boards for a couple weeks...
