Actually it is a good idea to have Under Age 18 to have Full Face Masks required, would avoid angry parents.

I believe 16 is the cut-off point but it all depends on the kid. Some kids can be responsible enough to just wear goggles but hey, 18 is the limit almost everywhere for minors.... I mean come on, what's a few more years?? Sorry AkMad...

But the problem is thats 2 years of a responsible player having to wear those heavy, non-breathable mask. I have been playing with sacair for a while now and have enough brains to know if your scared of getting shot in the face...wear a mask. But the mask are big and bulky cutting down on your vision and the sweating fogging up the stupid thing really gets annoying. You may say hey whats two more years but it really is a big time span.

Full face masks aren't a bad idea. I wore goggles first game today. Someone put a few shots in my mouth and split my lip. Needless to say, I had a full face mask on the second game.

I think everyone should wear a full face mask. Too many times i hear people saying, "No face shots, no face shots!" Then during the game that same person pokes his head out around a corner and i am suck in a dillema; do i shoot at his head/face or wait for him to come all the way around. The right answer is to wait and not take the head/face shot. But what if a guy pokes just his head and barrel out of a window or doorway and is shooting at me. I see this scenerio all the time. If you only present me with a "head-sized" target, dont get mad if i shoot it. Dont get me wrong, I am not looking to take head/face shots; but all too often that is all you see.

I've been using a full face mask but I just got my king arms neoprene mask-y thingy and from now on I'm going to be using that and goggles. It's going to be hot but then so are full face masks(and this will actually allow airflow) and it'll stop a bb enough to not leave a mark. Woohoo.. I can finally use my scope :D

i think that wearing just safety glasses is enough...but hey, u guys have been at this for longer then me, so u can decide, even though lots of kids are not gonna listen to the idea and just trot along with either just safety glasses or have nothing at all on...when i was playin today, i played almost half a round w/o the safety glasses, but then of course, mike had to come in and "save my life " and give me the time out time to get them.

I think if you are under 18 you should have to where a mask. Im 18 and I know what its like to get hit in the face but it doesnt bother me. I feel that in this sport you are going to get hit in the face and if your going to complain about it then where a mask.

Im sorry but if your afraid of getting shot in the face wear a mask, I've been shot in the face multiple times almost 5 feet away, it stung like hell but all in all you just keep going...Just because a mask rule is enforced doesn't mean you still can't be sued. :?

or heres an idea: full mask for 18 and under, but you have a permission slip to use goggles for people under 18.

I honestly agree with you Da-Rock I have choosen since my time at SacAir to never wear a Face Mask, I didn't even take one with me to Ord. Why? I hate em for the same reason your kid does, I've taken plunty of face shots, I scream... I say the F word a lot... I wait for Erik to apologize for shooting once reloading, and shooting again  Then I pick up and move on...

How bout this....Lets give everyone the choice to what they would like to wear.BUT,make sure to tell them the dangers of wearing goggles/glasses alone, and how muc it would help to waer full face masks. If the parents bitch about it,tell them that it was there kids fault to choose what he/she chose, and its not your fault.Or have the parents sign a waiver or something about it...

We already have the choice. And I see some people wear a mask at our games. We dont need waiver or any of that because its on public land, and sacair is a forum/group of people that simply like to play together. Who you gonna sue? Everyone?

Well, therein lies the whole issue of liability. Sure, everyone has their own feelings of whether goggles alone are enough or if full face protection is fully necessary. But in the end, all you need is a minor to come home with a chipped tooth and there will be an uproar. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Even if the kid is ok with it, a parent who has to foot the bill to fix the chipped tooth is going to be pretty unhappy. (Especially if it's a parent who doesn't approve of airsoft already as it is.)

I can understand a sanctioned and insured field having such a requiremet. We can choose to play or not to play there. It's our money right? As well, for the groups that just get together, it is obviously, a parent's will as to wether or not their kid wears a full mask or just glasses. If it were me bringing my kid to a field, I would rather it be me making that call. I'd like to take that minor risk and let my kid make his own decision........as long as he wears something. :)
