acetone or nail polish remover and some time it will come off np.

It's going to depend on the type of paint also. Don't be surprised if, to get really tough paint off, you lose some of the finish off your gun.

I removed the orange paint that AEX puts on with acetone, had to let it soak for a few min then it scraped off easily however under the orange paint and white primer the black of the metal slide started to come off. Any idea what kind of paint would be good to paint this area now? something that works on mettle and is aprox the same black / gloss as the res ot if? (G23F)

You could use a dremil type of tool and grind it off, or use a blow torch and heat it well. It will melt right off. If you're thinking of a method that won't damage you gun. Well, then....I got nuttin. Listen to the other guys.
