if 400 fps really needed?

Jun 13, 2005 12:12am
well my friend might sell me his p90tr aeg with battery 1 extra locap and the scliencer ect. and i already have an mp5k. what i was thinking to do is use the mp5k more for cqb and upgrade it to about 350fps. and then upgrade the p90 to 400 fps and use it for woodland type areas. what i wanted to know is 400 fps really necessary for woodland or should i just upgrade to 350 fps?

more like keep the mp5k around 280-320 IMO for cqb(350 is muy unnessicito) and get the p90 to like 350-80 for woodland

For the mp-5k,yu can slap on anything less than a M120,because with a M120,it shoots only 310-315 F.P.S. ....As for the P90,if you have the money, grab a M120,and some flat systema gears. You wont have to get the gears if you keep the spraying underr 3 seconds, the gears will last around 4-6 months...

dont listen to him... an m120 is a measurement, it means its supposed to get you shooting approx 120 meters per seconds which is up near 400fps.... also 4-6months is not an accurate measurement for durability since that all depends on how often he plays and how many rounds are shot per play within that time period....

it is a real accurate measurement because even if he plays once a week, the gears will last that long..I mean,he doesnt play airsoft everyday. If he does, than that would be a totally different story.Anyone that does is a loser since he has no life out of airsoft..Any why would AEG's be shooting at different FPS limits?does that mean a psg-1 shooting 450 with a M120,and a MP-5k with a M120 shoot at the same speed? At the speed it would take for the bb to reach 120 meters?

Ya, I am with the Red Army dude. Keep one or the other stock, I don't know how hard a P90 is to upgrade though would probly be a better one to upgrade cuz it has a longer barrel so it would be more accrate in a woodland area.

Having a 400fps (400fps chrono'ed with .20's) gun for woodland/thick brush is nice. I shoot with .25's with my M15 and it works well. I have good range in open areas and can actually cut through thick underbrush. This is with an M120 spring and stronger piston.

My 733 shoots about 330 with .20's. It does well in all environments. I shoot .25's and it has nice range with decent groupings. In MY opinion, anything more than 350 with .20's is just not needed.

For me, I think if you use an M120, you should upgrade the bushings, piston and gears. You have the darn mech-box opened already, might as well upgrade some parts so you don't have to open it up any time soon. I put an M120 in my G36 and it shoots at 390 with .20g and I put an M100 in a gun I sold (MP5 A4) and it's shooting at 350 fps with .20g. How? I don't know but that's what it is shooting at. I think for CQB, most places restrict you to 350fps. Fps is really just a number and having higher fps doesn't make you a better player even though most people think it does. As for the P90, it's pretty easy to upgrade if you search on topics about it. Just remove 2 screws and you can access the gear-box. The MP5K, I would think it's hard to try an upgrade it due to the limitations on using a stick battery. So keep that in mind.

i have CA mp5-A3 that shoots about 360-370 w/ .2 which i use for woodlands and it runs great all thats in it is a m120 and a new piston head. my other gun i picked up is a TM G36c which i just M100 and metal bushings in and when I chrono'd today it was at 345 w/ .2 both i use with .25g and am enjoying them both. you don't really need the 400fps but around 350 +/- sounds like a good area for most guns.

well im not out to hurt people im just looking for a bit more range and in woodland type areas be able to get through a bit more brush. ill probalby will upgarde to 350 or less fps because all of my games from now one are going to be backyards and cqb type areas. unless i go to the sac air games that is and find a place that is woodland we can have private games at. and i will not be upgrading myself im going to have aex do it for me.

its all about the barrel/spring relationship... i think >< dont expect 350 fps in an mp5k with an m100 =P

120 meters as in MPS = roughly about 392 FPS

i guess ill just leave the mp5k stock and use it at that cqb lazertag place ive been wanting to go there but i dont get my guns back until wednesday, :x as for the p90 ill just put in my 1 joule spring and km metal bushings that i have lying around when i buy it. 328 fps sounds good and if i want to go a little higher i get a tightbore barrel for the p90. that spring should make it a little lighter on the gearbox shouldent it?

No matter what you do some guns with equal internal upgrades will shoot faster than others. I have 1 M4 that shoots over 440fps and another that I have done every thing under the sun too and cant get it over 380fps, Given I have taken under water and all it might be f**ked up!

yea im just going to upgrade a p90 with a 1 joule spring and a tightbore and see what that gets me. damn im dying for a p90!
Jun 14, 2005 3:27am
a 1 joule spring wont do you much...
