I've seen them on ebay and in the collectibles section on websites, and have figured out they were yesteryear's AEG equivelant; but what happened to them? They were so cool!

If you go to classicairsoft.nett (drop the last "t") you'll find the best source for info on the classic gas guns.

theyre still around, just not as popular due to the weak power on internal greengas and the annoying gas hose to the tank on your back for co2....

i know that becuase the pressure, some people run certain guns around same GG PSI getting roughly same fps, its jsut the fact that green gas gets cool down effects that CO2 doesnt... making the green gas guns stupid if you let off a burst it gets cold, lowers your green gas pressure significantly and effects your ROF and range....

to get into more detail co2 does get cool down but not to the severity GG and the refrigerant gasses do. That is one reason some people run HPA(high pressure air - straight compressed air we breathe for others reading this that are wondering...)

While the external air rig is certainly more cumbersome than not having one, I don't mind it (I'm past the age of crawling on my stomach "help...I can't get up").
