System Hop

Jun 27, 2005 4:55am
Bought a Systema one piece hop-up for my sr15. The gun has a m100, bushings, and tightbore. I took it out to the girlfriends property(because I live in the city with nosy neigbors) and shot it for the first time with the new chamber. There was very little "hopping" going on.

10000 bucks says you didn't put the hop up nub inbetween the hop bucking and the hop arm that pushes down on the bucking.

Ok...Im new on the terms so bear with me...When I put it together, there was the arm(moves up n down when you move the gears) then, in that arm road a little rubber-type piece of tubing, and then the rubber "condom" that fits over the end of the barrel holds the little tube thing in place. Thats all I put in and took off the new one. Was there something else?

there is a square hole in the barrel, you put the hop up bucking, which you referred to as "condom" over the barrel, and you place the "rubber type piece of tubing" on top of the area where the square hole is, and then you insert that into the hop chamber.

Ok I did all that except I put the rubber tube in the chamber and then put the barrel with the bucking on it. Was that the "wrong way" and could have moved the "tube thing"(name?)

just put a systema hop-up in my son's gun. it is a little tight. had to sand the plastic parts alittle. worked fine after that.

Yeah, I ripped it apart last week, and redid it. seems to work OK now, I still dont think its hopping enough yet but i dont have a rear sight to check it yet. If its still low Im gonna take it apart again and shim the lil tubing piece so i can get a lil more spin.

Is there lube on the part of the hop bucking where the bb is getting it's spin from?

forcing the hop-up bucking further into the barrel is not recommended. this may slow the fps and decrease range. too much resistance on the top side of the bb may cause more harm than help. just my opinion.

How would I get it to hop more? It might be ok now I havent really had a chance too look it over. Also, does a new hopup need to break in? No one has answered that question yet.
