Batteries - Parallel or Series?

Ok quick question for you airsoft geeks.

The cells in our packs are run in series. If you run them in series, the addition of more cells increases voltage while capacity stays the same. If you run them in parallel, as you add more cells, voltage stays the same while capacity goes up.

the average Nimh or Nicd cell is only 1.4 volts. so with 7 cells in series you get 8.4v and 8 cells gives you 9.6v.

Cells are 1.2v each. Packs are built in series. You could run the packs in parallel which would double the mah but keep your voltage the same.

Can you connect NiCad & NiMh in paralell ? Mix match them ?

I would not mix battery types. Metal Hydride discharges at a different level as Nickle Cadium and you risk short battery life and poor performance. MH tends to hold on to the peak voltage longer and then suddenly die out at the end, and NC slowly lower thier voltage till the gun just won't cycle any more. I like MH myself. I build my gun battery packs from R/C battery packs. Works really well and it's much less expensive. Don't attempt if you don't understand electricity and soldering. Go to Radio Controlled car sites to learn about batteries. They are the experts on the subject. -John
