SRC and UTG are changing the game

Many of you may not be familiar with these relativly new names in the airsoft industry, however these companies are at the forefront of a revolution. For most of us, getting into airsoft was a bit tricky because of one universal truth, quality airsoft weapons are not cheap. For many, the cost of a primary rifle coupled with a hi capacity mag and a battery far exeeded three hundred dollars, not a paltry sum to the many unemployed minors that wish to play. Therefore, airsoft, because of the cost associated with it has remained an elite sport for the most part, out of reach of those that could not afford it, however all of this is about to change. Two new chinease manufacturers, are making clones of marui's highest selling weapons, the m4a1 and the mp5 for a veritable fraction of marui's msrp. Src, also know as stti has in the works a series of m16 varients based off of marui's tested design, they feature ver2 gearboxes with preupgraded internals including hardened steel gears, metal bushings, and spring guides, poly carbonite pistons, and harder shooting springs, aprox 320-330 fps with .20's out of the box. The first varient is allready available the m4a1, and from some retailers it is as little as 160.00 with free shippign and a high capasity magazine. As for UTG, they are a new company that has coppied marui's mp5 design to the T. It features a ver2 gearbox with internals that are completely compatable with marui parts and features an initial fps of 290 with .20's out of the box. What makes the UTG so revolutionary though is the value for money invested, for 150.00 you recieve the weapon, a full stock and collapsable stock a battery a charger 2 high cap magazines a speed loader and a mag clamp.

Dang, what must TM and CA be thinking right now, especially TM? China has no real infringement laws, so they can basically plagerize (can't spell this word) whatever the heck they want. But.... on second thought, I as the consumer, theoretically I shouldn't complain. (China's money all going to government and military is a subject for another time :x )

Don't get me wrong, this is excellent. I'm wishing I had waited for one of these instead of ordering my TM M4 just yesterday. (silly me... )

My dad works for a company designing fuel filters for trucks...he designs them and patents them. He was talking about how these Chinese companies will get their hands on a filter, and just copy, copy, copy. This is bad news for US workers and manufacturers... If China doesn't clean up, we could be screwed...

I think we need to try our hardest to keep airsoft products out of mainstream stores.

I think we should make a petition asking the government or state to pass a law banning the sale of Gas/Aegs from mainstream stores. Isnt there a way to isolate the sale to only specialty shops like AEX? OR why not ask the overseas companys to ONLY import to these places. I mean you wont walk into walmart and see a TM on the shelf...yet. But Im sure with cheap guns flooding the market we will. Not to mention what softair is trying to do about imports. This is our sport, and if left in the hands of politicians and multi-million dollar companies our sport is going to get effed up the ass. We need to start taking action or be prepared for the worst.

Well i believe the mainstream popularization of our sport is more a question of when rather than if. Over the last 2 years airsoft popularity has skyrocketed from its meager grassroots beginings. I remember when i first started the sport 3 years ago and asked people if they played "airsoft" back then the only thing that greated me was a blank inquisitive stare, now when i ask that question theres hardly a person ive met that hasnt heard of airsoft, in fact most have owned a springer at the least. therefore, i believe rather than attempt to postpone the inevitable popularization of our sport we should take steps to insure that when airsoft does reach its popularity potential we as veteran players do our part by educating new players on proper safity and common sense when airsofting. We cant sit this one out and hope some stupid kid dosent get himself killed and our sport banned because he made a mistake, we have to make sure that mistake never happens. Because lets face it, were not gonna be able to get importers to not sell to big chain stores, theres money there and no businessman would fail to tap such a lucrative market. Subsequently, we have to be smart about this and educate the comunity and new players so that no one makes a fatal mistake.
