Responcible airsofting

Aug 21, 2005 1:14pm
The admins need to get together and put up some guide lines so games like " EG " do not appear on our boards. I do not believe that we want to sanction out in public during the day games. This shows a lack of responcibility on the part of the person that is hosting this game. Everyone know that you do not brandish and or fire your airsoft gun in public, Yet these people are doing this next to homes and a park in the middle of the day?

Again by reading the above post it shows that there is not enough forethought into what they are doing. No thought of public safety or property.

i got some ground rules im setting for this, no going up on the ridge, no shooting over ridge, calling blindfire when someones walking by, and just be courteous and check surroundings every few seconds, not to hard to do a quick look left and right, just i really dont want no problems and hope there are none.

You have just stated why this game does not need to be played at this feild there are too many opportunities for the things to go wrong. We play at fields that are isolated from the public or in a time when the public is not around. This is just a sighn of impulsivness and lack of maturity on the players part. Just wait till a safe game day comes up and play then.

When you say it's been cleared it with EGPD, did someone actually go to the police department or just talk to an officer who drove by??

Even the players need to be told to put on their shooting glasses.

Note: This is not a slam on any individual or group. This is simply a statement of concern over the possibility of gaining bad press and losing the PRIVILEGE of playing this sport.

enforce what you guys believe, there are multiple admins concerned with this who are over 18 and have more experience with the law and public relations. Not to bash younger kids, i have(still am basically) been there and know its annoying but it is the truth, these guys are all responsible sucessful guys. I would agree with thier call. Sacair does not need to be on the news for "a gathering point for kids to dress up with replica weapons and scare neighbors" or whatever the story would turn into, wrose shoot someones eye out.

WHAT??!?!
Aug 21, 2005 4:50pm
just as support for why i say this is in Folsom we have one of these little greenbelts going through a neighborhood and kids used to play there and I always thought that is a very bad idea. they said that folsom PD didnt care, but a few months ago they did, they confiscated a kids gun and some other things. they got off lucky.

This is also why I got involve, I am very conserned about the safety of the sport and the players that play it, This field is a birdseye view in City limits of a pretty big area

I really don't think an issue can be made of whether or not the cops are going to show up at this field. When you get right down to it that really just turns into an argument of relativity. It's not any less likely, no matter how secluded we may think any of the filelds are, that a passerby may get the wrong idea and call the cops. Take the cqb field for example. Has anyone ever actually talked with the atv and dirt bike riders who almost always make their way through there? Not that I've seen. Sure, most people would be smart enought to know from the lack of gunfire and the plain rediculousness of the possibility that there are a bunch of kids running around shooting each other with real assault rifles, that there is no problem but it's just splitting hairs to say that it's any better no matter where the field is. Especially since the players at the EG field have said that they've actually conferred with the local residents and the police. Has anyone even done that at any of the other fields?

Playing at secluded fields where passerbys are out there for other outdoor sports is a far cry from playing in the middle of a residential neighborhood where casual passerby's are far more common. The potential for an accident is raised considerably when shots are "accidentally" landing on people's porches.
