There are quite a few gas stations over there trying to take advantage of a desperate situation. Terrible how they think they can justify it. As far as I understand, it's against the law for the to jack up prices that high during a disaster. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well these prices do suck. It's gonna cost me like 50bucks to fill up my 14gallon tank before long. But hey, I have a job, and I'm gonna keep driving!

I did it. I went nuts and brought out a couple of gas containers yesterday to fill up and store, just in case they decided to be jerks about labor day weekend. Filled up the car while I was at it too.

I'm patiently awaiting a call from the VW dealership about a Golf TDI, horray for 38/46 (city/highway) mpg.

Well the US would be fine if the damn greenies would just let us drill for our own oil up in Alaska. We have enough oil up there to where we wouldn’t have to rely on getting our oil from some other place.

Here SUV -- no need to pay for gas...

The reason they have raised the prices so high is to prevent over-consumption of gas. Similar to that of the oil shortage in the 70's people bought as much gas as they could while it was cheap in order to avoid the shortage, this thus created the lines and extreme shortage that occured. By raising the prices, people will buy less gas and a true shortage will hopefully be averted. This is definetly the case back east where many of the Coastline's oil refineries were taken out by Katrina and gas is becoming more scarce, but what about us on the West Coast, especially California. We produce about 93% of our own gas so why should our prices close toward the 4 dollar mark??? MoNeY......
