Its martial law, don't know why people are surprised weapons are being confiscated and their being forced to leave. Its a sad testiment to our society every time theres a natural disaster, and people begin looting. If everyone would just work together in times like these instead of turning it all political and pointing fingers about who did or didn't do what things would progress much smoother. One thing though, if theyre going to confiscate the weapons they should cataloge when they take a lisenced gun and who they took it from so people can claim them later.
There is no reason why we need to go all national socialist and start violating peoples civil rights for the good of the state. If people want to stay, let them stay. They put their blood sweat and tears it to thier home/biz and no one, not even the fed pigs have the right to remove them from thier private dwelling.
i'm almost two-sided on this occurrence. I leave to Louisiana opn the 22nd, supposed to on the 3rd, but was post-poned. In my line of work, I will be glad to see no one coming into the stores will be armed. But, at the same time, I see why some are afraid to give their's up, due to the fact that their is seldom order unless armed personnel are available 24-7. Would you trust anyone at this point in time, stranded in a city surrounded and almost completely submerged in water...
As dumb as this may sound to the rest of you. If it were myself in dire straights and it were only up to me to protect my property or loved ones, I'd have to be adamant on giving up my only possible protection. Especially, if law enforcement is stretched out as far as those in Louisiana. I'm not going to give off the cliche that it's our right under the Constitution, because at that point, the Constitution is just a piece of paper of little or no meaning. As long as others treat the situation as "every man for himself", I would have to assume the worst case scenerio. I would have to fend only for myself and whatever family is in my care. Being a law abiding citizen would be the least of my personal obligations. Especially, when the rest of immediate society don't seem to care much about the law.
