I've never had to clean my motors since they are in an enclosure. No dirt should have gotten in there compared to RC cars.

As the brushes wear on the commutator I would assume that you would get some build up. Not to mention as the parts breakdown and wear you would see some crud. Especially you you're running a vented endcap.

well heres a short goody on motors they wear out but can be revived by changing brushes and cuttinfg the comm/commutator you should oilb your motor often cleaning it will help performance new brushes and a clean true comm wikll also help performance just like an rc car. If you want to know anything of great detail pm myseldf or $djdeeznuts$

Shot it with motor cleaner last night. As expected dirt and brush powder ran out of it. The comm is nice and clean and there is still a lot of life left on the brushes. If anyone could help me on the pinion position thing that would be great. Ive googled it and I think its in the right spot. Also, Is there anywhere else I should oil it other than the shaft bushings and the "spring housing" bushings(should the comms/armature get oiled too)?

Pinion position on the motor shaft isn't really a big deal. Mesh between the bevel gear and pinion gear is set with the motor adjustment screw. Proper shimming of the bevel gear will give you better gear mesh also (much like shimming a rear end of a car).

Are there any tips to get the pinion OFF of an EG1000? I was just thinking about heating it up. Putting it on should be no problem.....

You can buy a pinion puller from an overseas company.

So the systema set screw over the guarder press on? Im thinking just a bench grinder to cut the notch...

Hopped to AEX today. Picked up a sYstemA "hardened" pinion. I think they make a regular and a hardened one? This one cost 16.50 instead of 14 and its tempered not shiney like the one on their site. Anyways the guy said heat doesnt work on those. Stick it up in a vise and knocked it out with a punch. Three hits and it was out. File a notch in the shaft, stick a drop of crazy glue on the threads and there you go.
