I'd PM Neouser if I was you... he did the upgrade on my G36c. It is incredibly well shimmed, in fact we were going to put a m120 sring in it but it actually shot too hot! well over 400 fps. He put an m100 with metal bushings and it shoots in the 380's. Very quiet... and he is very reasonable in what he charges... I would trust him with any upgrade. He also stands behind his work... He's also a very kewl guy... just pm him. If nothing else he is free with adivce...

It sounds like you are trying to make this into a "sniper" sort of rifle. Whoever you decide to go with, Neo or me AEX, you might want to disable full auto. It is not hard to do on these guns and is easy to reverse. That way with no full auto option you wouldnt be limited on the fps as far as fields go. Just the gun.

for a bipod, get one that will attach to an ris, cuz the ones that attach to the barrel never stay on very well.

If i'm not mistaken, the spur gear is smaller on the M14...which means it's good for high rate of fire but not all that great when it come to cranking up a heavier spring.

Now you just need a cheek rest that will raise you eye up to the right position. That's what I don't like about the M14/M1As. Not optics friendly.
