Cross Draw Vest?

Oct 11, 2005 1:48am
So I like the idea of not having my pistol bouncing around on my leg, but I think I remember hearing at one point that Cross Draws are bad. I would search it, but I can't right now for some reason. I am looking for some sort of gear though. Most of my mags are pistol style, no big AEG hi caps or anything. I was looking at:

quality counts, and u get what u pay for. if ur just using a pistol, whats the point of all of the other pouches. my flaw, is that with my 3-point sling, when the gun is down, it blocks my pistol. thats the whole point for dropping the gun. on the plus side they are very versitile. it all preferance.

Personally i dont like thigh holsters. I use a shoulder holster from BlackHawk that works just fine. I dont know a lot about cross draws but I like them better than thigh holsters.

Well the thing is I have my pistol, and I'll also have my modded MKI carbine. So I'll have about 4-5 extra pistol style mags when all is said and done. How well do thigh pistol mag pouches work?

I have a UTG crossdraw -- I got it for ~$60...
Gun control is not Crime control.

Save up your money and get a Safariland 6004 for the model of GBB you have. You will save money buying around for other holsters trying to find a good one.

I'll tell you from experience I'm not a big fan of cross draws. I used one for a bit, but found that it would snag on the sling on my primary. Also it will constantly dig into your abdomen when crawling, not to mention it is very difficult to draw your weapon when you're prone.

You shouldnt have a probelm drawing the sidearm out of a cross draw with your rifle dropped. If you are using a 3 point properly set up you can just toss it to your side and it will stay there.

But why should you have to move it to the side?

Very true and all good points. But until I drop the big bucks on a quality holster such as a 6004, a vest it is. Not even that right now as its broke. A nice chest rig and a 6004 or similar holster is on the list in the future.

Getting a crossdraw vest is a waste of space. Your giving up space for 3-6 magazines for 1 crossdraw holster... If you really want to carry a pistol on your chest, just throw it in one of the mag pouches? Seriously....
