upgrading an mp5

Oct 11, 2005 4:31am
now, im looking at upgrades like faster motors, more powerful springs and i keep hearing about gearboxes snapping and stuff. I've got a tm mp5a4 high-grade and i was wondering what the list of stuff i needed to get along with a higher spin rate motor. bearings, piston heads, this all sounds so technical and i don't get it. so just a little list of stuff i need if i wanna go higher ROF and another list for higher FPS

Well, just like a car, the more you modify it the more likely it won't last as long as you wanted. For me, an M120 that's supposed to get you shooting at around 400 fps, there's a higher risk of breaking your gearbox compared to an M100 for around 350 fps. As for higher ROF you could go with a faster motor or use a 9.6V battery. I personally like to only use 8.4V batteries.... I'm sure the SacAirsoft Gurus will help you out and throw in their 2 cents also.

if you are going for the higher f.p.s you might want to consider upgrading your mechbox as well, because the higher grade spring you get the greater the damage will be to the mechbox,on to motors if you want a motor that can pull the higher f.p.s springs you should be looking at a high torque motor.

for a mp5a4 could u put a hight speed or torque motor in it with a m100 and bushings? would they snap fast or last longer than leaving it stock (motor).

you've got a fuse on your mp5....if the motor is getting excessive sheit from the battery then it's the fuse that'll blow first...your motor should be fine with that fuse in tact...

U should be fine with the fuse intact..youl get a higher ROF without the fuse, but its not worth blowing ur motor.if u upgrade with a m120 or more,u wouldn't want to get a hi speed motor.not enough torque.grab a 9.6,and youl be amazed with the results...

Hey I have a similar question. If I upgrade the spring to a m120 would I have to switch over to 9.6v batteries to push the spring? Also is it a good idea to invest in new piston heads and other reinforced parts to support the gearbox with the new spring or should I be fine. I am using a mp5 also.
If I had two dead rats. I would cut you.

if i increase the length of the barrel will that slow down the fps? and would i need any other upgrades for my spetsnaz to handle a m100?
