Was anybody there by chance today? The security there was INSANE. Full ECP security, metal detectors, bomb sniffers, and...well I guess you'll just have to wait and see the pics I upload tonight...

Nice pics. I really liked that heritage flight too. Those of you who have been there before...what did you think of this year's show? Better? Worse?

So correct me if I misunderstood you statement Rob but you were saying that there is no group such as Combat Controllers or Pararescuemen? It was my understand that Combat Controllers were the personnel deployed into hostile territory to setup comms and establish forward airfield operations. You made it sound like SP's did that type of work which I know is not the case being as one of my Uncle's just retired within the last 4 years as a Colonel whom was directly involved with training Combat Controller's and PJ's @ Hurlburt Field.

Ok that made alot more sense. It's been awhile since I've actually sat down with him and shot the sh*t about military crap. He and I would rather talk muscle cars than talk about his "BS" as he put it.

I know they were your regular guys. My dad is stationed there. From what these men said, they did nto ever deploy and instead cross-trained with the local PD's and a private security company in the area.

Yes I know the article. As I stated before, the men you are speaking of that provide security, are called Ravens, and they only provide ground security for THAT aircraft that THEY CAME IN WITH. And their mission is to protect the aircraft, that one sole aircraft. Thats it. They have nothing to do with Airfield security. Been doing this crap for 6 years, with 2 tours into the AOR......i know this crap by now.

Not throwing a fit, just throwing some facts your way. I still dont see how yuo meant exactly what I just said. I was talking about the Ravens, in regards to your statement about the cover story to Airmen Mag. The guys in the pics are part of Travis SWAT team. The only thing that I can think of is that you may have misunderstood ground security for Airfield security. Bahhhhhh who cares, cool pics :) and I got to get out of work long enough to watch the Thunderbirds fly. Reminded me of kinda why I joined. To bad this thing only happens once in a blue moon. The rest of the time you have your nose in the dirt...

DO NOT confuse my pride for anything but what it is. I didnt meant to come off as a snob. I was simply trying to redirect your train of thought to one that was more correct. I am very straight forward (thank the military for that) and tend to rub others the wrong way. No need to explain myself further. I am glad tha your family has a strong chain of service. Mine does as well. Every generation has served since my family immigrated in 1925. Good luck with your plans. Are you an ROTC Cadet?

Hey Rob no hard feelings. I'm sorry I misunderstood your pride. Actually I'm looking at OTS. Didn't make the decision quickly enough for AFROTC. I actually was gonna make a run at the Academy during HS. Thought better of it...the other people are more well rounded...
