Ive been looking for some "special" type scope rings for my SR15.
In close range combat, an unsuspecting melon will get the back of its melon blown off.
I saw in the movie sahara one of the characters remove a scope from some sort of AK very quickly. It almost looked like he twisted it slightly and it came off and he handed it to Matthew McConaughey. I think thats what your talking about and i too would love to know its proper term.
back when my dad was"operating" he had one of those mounts for his m14. i want to say that it is called a rocker mount. the mount has two balls on either side of a main post and basically presure keeps it intact. this way you can set the scope on the mount and dial the mount in and lock it down and when you take the scope off and then back on it is always locked in position and never has to be re-set to zero
ive never heard of a scope ring like that before. but wouldnt that make the scope not as solid onto the gun? i wouuld think that would make it so the scope wouldnt always be straight everytime u remount it. but well, ill try to find one for u. :D
Your name means nothing on the battlefield....

I did a few quick google searches and came up with Leupold Quick Release Mounts. The rings come off the base which stays attached to the rail however they do use a lever to secure the rings.... closest i could find
