Car Audio Question...

I need some mid-quality subs. Are the Rockford Fosgate P1 10" inch subs any good? And, if so, what kind of amp should I go with?

How much are you looking to spend? I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon X12D4 and its awsome, bought new on ebay. If your lookin for a 10" instead the X10D4 is good too. You can get them new on ebay for about $90 shipped (i can give you the name of the seller i got mine from if you want). You can crank all of the PG Xenon series speakers way way up and they sound awsome.

thank you, they are for my fiance's car. I just bought the p1's in 10". I was told to go with at the least a 900W amp, and was pushed to buy alpine. I was just unsure as to whether or not the p1's are of quality or not. i hope so. Price wasn't too bad...

I have some old jl comp 10's in my trunk (not hooked up), but when they were, they kicked A$$. My buddy paid something like 300 a piece for them, out of some dude's honda or something. Speaking of sub boxes, knoqw any good custom folks?

Audio sports in folsom does great work but they're not cheap for custom anything. Expect to pay around $200 for a box depending on size. i was looking at having them make a box for a Image Dynamics IDMAX sub a while back (it needs a double thick box hence more expensive) and they wanted $350.

then guess where I bought the subs...

haha, they do have good install prices (cna't beat $1) but i wouldn't trust them with anything custom. You probably could have gotten a better price on the subs elsewhere (they gotta recoup the install cost somewhere  )

they were 70 each, two for one deal. was that a good or bad price? sale today, memorial and all.

I'm not familiar with Fosgate hardly but i did a google search for 'Rockford Fosgate P1 10"' and the prices i found were a couple $65 ones and a $45 one. Then theres ebay, two for $67 with $43 shipping so looks like you could have gotten them cheaper online.

I have a question do subs go bad if you don't use in a while? I have two alpine type s 10 inch subs that I stored for a while but when I hooked them back up they don't work. Do you have the seller's name for the subs you mentioned rcas? I am going to buy them if my subs are dead. Thank you

subs shouldn't go bad. The only thing that may happen is the rubber surround can dry out and crack but that takes a while. Check your source or amplifier.

my opinion, mtx subs sound the best hands down. the problem, almost every mtx sub i have seen blows out after a while. now my buddy has a sony 500 watt deck, 1700 watt eclipse amp, and had 2 mtx 15's in his car, blew those, and got a eclipse 12 that hits as hard as the two 15's. and yes, i think eclipse subs are good

out of my few years of experience in the custom car audio proffesion i kan tell u this...for subs rockford fosgate: garbage(pretty much anythin rockford is garbage but iv seen one model sub that was good)....sum mtx r decent...soundstream has good subs out there as iv installed plenty of those...jl audio has some really really good subs but for a price, the 13w7 goes for round 700-800$ last i checked..they have others that r really good too...jbl i havnt really followed up on much in the last year since i moved to cali leavin my shop...hifonics i find all around the best company period...they have a goliath sub which should only be bout 250$ n handles like 1000w rms continueous if i remember correctly, not too sure anymore but we installed one of those in my bosses car back home for the biggest event in germany n everyone thought he had 3 subs...they also have great amplifiers n speaker sets...esx has good amps too...the black ones r better everytime someone came to the shop with a chrome one it was broken from overloading....whichever u go for plz do every audiofreak a favor n find someone who really knows what there doing even if for a higher price kuz they really need to know airspace for each sub or subs to get the rite sound...if possible for ur car i would recommend gettin 2 12's ported in the rear deck...we did that with my brothers 89 bmw 325i with old jbl subs n really shitty amps maybe pushin 400w to both subs but we made the box real well n had the rite sized ports and it hit around an easy 140db...seriously....but yeah...hope i helped
