I am a SSgt in the Air Force, and having been deployed and working with both Marines and Army... I would say go Marine Corps. They are the most well disciplined trained fighters and hard workers that I have ever meet. They take pride in everything that they do. As far as money, just know that any bonus you will recieve will be taxed about 26%. The Army is a whole is a tight unit as well, but there is just something about a sharp Marine that makes you take notice. For treatment, if you are worried about that join the AF, the marine and army both get treated like shit. Only difference is, you will never hear a Marine complain about it. If I had to do it over again, I would have joined the Corps. If you want to kill folks.............you will have the oppurtunity to do that in either branch. Best of luck to you. If you need anyhting specifically answered feel free to PM me.

I went through the same thing. I really love the Marines, but hate the way you are treated and the fact that there is no body armor. Plus there using M16 not M4. I decided basically on these factors that I would rather join the Army. I dont know what you plan on doing in the service but I would recommend if your not doing Infantry to go into the Air Force. Talk to people that have been in both branches and listen to what they have to say. And dont listen to your reqruiter he is basically a used car sales man!!!!!!!!

Some useful tools to help you decide:
A 7.62mm, 178 grain bullet travels at a velocity of 2600 fps and has 2,520 foot-pounds of kinetic energy, which is enough to penetrate through 9 soft-target personnel...

Why do you want to join? What do you want to do? Do you want to make the military a career? These are just some of the questions you'll have to seriously ask yourself.

Hey everyone, I'm back, yay, ok...

Personally, I would say join the army. You have a far larger range of jobs/specialities to choose from in the army. I have various family friends and an uncle that all served in the army (some still do) and just from what they tell me about it it sounds better to me. Also, keep in mind that from what I hear ( and please correct me if im wrong) basic training in the marines is 2 weeks longer than the army. Oh, and i think you should be an MP, if i join, im definatly considering being an MP. Just remember to do what you want to do, dont join the army, for example, just because everyone else is telling you its better! Do what you think you will enjoy. Btw,

Not trying to start a flame war here, all I will say is this. Really, really reconsider wanting to be a MP. The army as a whole has lots of BS but the MP take it to the next level. Plus you have the co-ed factor, which means from the start, if you are a Male you are at a disadvantage.

Marines, they kick a$$ and take names. Now don't get me wrong, I'm proud of our army too, but the Marines usually go in and kill everything they can so the Army can hold it; and then they move on and do it all over again. Plus the Marines have STA-Sniper Target Acquisition, also known as the Sniper/Scouts. Them and Force Recon are some bad a$$ mother f|_|ckers.

If your looking for techinacal jobs, in my opinion you should go army, navy or air force You have a lot more options for a career in them based on the jobs they offer, especially ones in technical fields. Marines dont get my wrong, I got mad respect for them my grandfather was a sgt in the corps but, think about what your wanting to go. Personally what ever you decide I wish you luck.i had to make a choice similar to this less than six months ago.by the way i turned down the marines offer of a full ride for college.I got my sites on becoming an officer in the air force.

If you plan on being a MP in the Marines you can not join until you are 19yrs old. I dont know if its the same for Army.

only a few people on here can give you good advice on this. Im not in the marines or the army. I work with both and closley with marines. I t all depends on what you want to do in the millitary different services have different programs find out what you want to do. and then find out what service has a program that will help you achive your goals. thats my advice. I think if your a hard charger you should look into US Navy SWCC teams it would be hard to find a job thats more fun in my openion.

Yup, every service has different specialties, but work hand in hand w/ each other.
