hmmm...considering that there's also the star m249 for only $600 this kit will be a tough sell no matter what unless they bring down the retail price to less then the star kit.

the outside might not break but the inside will. Version 2 gearbox wasn't designed for sustained full auto firing like m249 gearboxes. And if you're willing to pay $900 might as well go for a CA which is all metal and weighs in at almost 20 lbs. I believe. But don't knock plastic, plastic can be a lot stronger then metal especially the cheap pot metal they use to make alot of the airsoft bodies and parts with.

I fire alot of full auto from my SIR.....still not broke. *knocks on wood* Any gun can break, not just Ver 2 type guns.

It should be a given that all gearboxes will break eventually. These are just toys afterall. Anyhow, it is a lovely kit nonetheless and I will probably end up getting one in the distant future unless some really nice furniture becomes available for the star.

this thing isn't really even out yet in real life so how can it be SF or elite? It's just cool look'n and a bit different from the m249's. Personally I'm waiting for a modern HK LMG or even a russian lmg but alas there isn't any now isn't there?

Well then my information is either wrong or outdated. In any case it doesn't really matter it's available for the airsoft masses.

what is a shrike?? like i see that its similar to a M249, but is it like from a movie/game?? or is just a M16 varient?? Like where did the design originate from?
