how long with the M4?
How lond do you thing we are going to be useing the M4? like army marines. It's been around for like 10 years and more i think maybe we would use a bullpub type gun next what do you guys think?
i would say keep the m16 for a little longer. if we had to switch, they probably wont pick a bullpop...maybe a G36 or go back to m14 maybe???i cant predict the future, but that would be my guess.
yeah i would say the G3 line as well but what is so bad about bllpub why dont people like them?
with weapons it is hard to tell when old weapons will go and new ones will come in. M14's are still being used, and M16's. i think even if a new gun came into play, our armed forces would still use our older weapons. like they say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

i dont know what gun will replace the m4  , if i had to take a guess id say the xm8 looks like a good choice but there arnt that many guns out right now to challange the m4 :( . what ever gun the military uses next they will most definitly have to go with a larger round. the guys in the field LOVE anything 7.62( the m14 and the m240). 7.62 round is a gift form god in the field  but it has alot of recoil thats why you only find it in lmgs and the m14. the most lickly choice for the next round would be the new 6.8 round. more penatration power than the 5.56 NATO round but less recoil than the 7.62 round and guns like the m249 SAW dont need to be rechambered to fit the round :D. but getting back to the gun id say something like an H&K XM8 chambered for the 6.8 round.

i don't see the m4 going away anytime soon. the amount of upgrades and options for it are limitless- anything from a regular assualt rifle to a sniper and saw can be possible. it's going to be here for a long time.
wont be HK... lol too expensive, the armalite become out service rifle because they were the lowest bidder for that quality range. maybe an HK contract weapon.
It would be nice to see something come out in the new 6.8SPC round. If I remember correctly Barret Arms had a conversion kit for the M4 and M16 that made it 6.8SPC.

what other weapons do they use? a shotgun? what kind of sniper rifle do they use?
if you try to fail but you suceed which do you do?
Ive never been in the military nor could i ever join due to a shattered knee, but friend that are love and hate m4's and m249. they like the 7.62 yes its a god send buy you cant carry as much ammo, but at the same time it takes less shots to put someone down. I would have said maybe the xm8 for the next gen gun but if i remeber correctly it was scrapped so now im just rambeling.
i mean come on it only takes one no one really gets up after a 9mm shot.
true it only takes one shot to kill someone but then you have to factor in the possibility that they might have body armor on, or be far down range or have heavy clothing on. im preaty sure the insergants in iraq dont have body armor but 9mm doesent always cut it. pluse a 9mm might put him down but it probably wont kill him with one shot and its not that uncommon for them to wear sucide vests full of explosives.

The magazine Combat Tactics shows an illustration of the the rifle that will replace the M4 for the Unitied States Special Operation Command. It is called s.c.a.r. and the devloper received a $6.34 million contract so it better be great.
If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.

yeah but in like iraq so many of the insurgents are on drugs, and its not uncommon to shoot somebody 3-4times unless its in the head and have keep fighting.

The human body is resiliant thing. people got shot in WW2 by 30.06 and 8mm muaser and still lived. the two things that will never change are the greater the energy transfer the better and head shots always work better than body shots. however energy transfer costs you range an acuracy tubling bullets work great but dont go far very striaght. and head shots are hard to make becuase the head moves around alot. My advice make good with what you got. adapt and overcome build your stradagy with your liabilities in mind and they will become assets.
[quote="AIRBORNE"]why no just one in the head?

maybe someting 6.88 remington(i think thats it something like it anyways). It's like the 7.62. it has good range and power with i think more velocity. i think the ar's will stay but different variants and calibers will come .
Do not fear the darkness, fear the shadows.....
i dont think the tar will ever come into play. it shoots too fast and is not very accurate.

I think the scars might replace. i would hate to see the ar's go.
