If I were you go with the new CA M4A1. It is all metal and solid as a rock. (it is a great gun till the internals say BIFFF, If I were you get the CA and then upgrade the internals a little bit) (maybe 350 bucks top, and it already comes with a high cap)

if you're new, you might wanna just go the TM route. The Classic army m15's (their newest m4a1 versions) are very good but CA still has quality control issues that might result in you getting a lemon (though they have improved in QC as compared to earlier versions). My first gun was the m15a4 ris and it turned out to have a messed up piston head out of the box. Luckily I have more experienced friends who helped me out and fixed my gun. In its current state mine is a very nice piece, built and performs more solidly than a stock TM in my opinioin (but it must be noted that it took some work to get it to this state). If you get a tm m4, it's pretty much guarenteed to work perfectly out of the box with no repairs or modifications required. On the other hand, it does not have a metal body and is not upgraded out of box. These two things can be remedied rather easily with aftermarket parts though (which are generally more expensive but of better quality than CA).

just my 2 cents again, yes the TM is extremely reliable.. the TM is $222 dollars vs. the CA at $250. but what do you get in that price.. EVERYTHING! you get metal body, metal carry handle, metal 1 piece outer barrel and so much more (it evens comes with reinforced body pins and a hi-cap) but on the other note as far as internals, you could always just buy the following

got my m15a4 ris for 330, that was when they first came out though so the price might have gone up since then...the m15a4 carbines should be around 260-270?
