Lost wallet scenerio.

Dec 11, 2005 9:24pm
Alright. I was walking into our local target store at around 7pm. There in the dark, my wife spotted a wallet. A woman's wallet. We picked it up and looked through it, to see who it may belong too. it was a woman in her mid twenties and the address looked to be somewhere in San Jose. Since we were at Target, we figured to look in there for the girl that matched the pic on her license. Nothing, we had her paged over head. Still nothing. The management suggested that we leave it with them, but the chances that the owner would have been contacted by them I thought was slim. I figured since this is someone's privacy and personal belongings, we felt it nessesary to follow up on it ourselves. So we took it home and looked through the rest of the contents. There were 2 credit cards, Mastercard and Visa, and a bank card to a local bank. We called the 24 our numbers on all those cards to try and have those companies give the owner a call to have her call us at our number. Visa pissed me off. They apparently outsource their customer service to India, where I had to repeat myself 3 times or so to ge my point across. Trying to get a hold of the friggen owner. Instead, the english limited yahoo on the other end of the line assumed I was the owner reporting a stolen or lost card. After finally getting it through the language barrier, he understood and denied that he could give me her phone number. Once again I had to explain the HE call her and give her my phone number so that we could return the wallet too her. Instead, he tells me too take it too the nearest police station. Master Card was a little more helpful, but they didn't seem to want to lift a finger. Instead they went right to "Take it to the nearest police station".

If ANYONE has lost a wallet. I'm sure they'd gone as far as I did. I lost three wallets in my lifetime, one of which had cash from my payday (500 bucks). That was never returned. Others had about 20 bucks in them but I recieved those pretty quick like.
