a cool cop
Ok well last night i was driving home at about 1200am and i noticed a cop right on my ass, about the same time I punched it getting of on the freeway, and he pulled me over, i wasnt speeding but my light above my license plate wa sout so in Auburn i guesse this is a pull over offense, i understand in LA where people steal cars but whatever, Well he gave me a warning (very gratefull) and before he walked away he said "wow, your car is really fast, i had to floor my cruiser to catch up to you." I didnt know what to say? well anyhow thats my boring story. (i dirve a 2002 Subaru Impreza with upgraded air intake, and a few other little things.NOT A WRX)
lol, cops can be cool, its just who pulls you over. im not gonna start a car disscusion, but if someone else wants to, be my guest
Try not to explain what is done or upgraded on your car to cops. I can't explain it well enough, but you can be profiled down the road, and some new laws are requiring that you keep stock equipment in most areas. Laws are chaniging often regarding upgrades for you vehicles. If he asks you again, or another cop for that matter, you bought it that way... Cops out here in sac are sometimes over-zealous in their efforts to rid the streets of "fast" cars. Any little thing they can contend, they will. And as I said, most, not all of them.
Back when I had my 68 camaro, it was extremely loud, due to cam, headers, and lack of proper baffling in my mufflers(plus the turn downs). He stated that it didn't seem smog legal... NO SH IT!!!
You were lucky that he was in a good mood. I was pulled over doing 100 on the freeway. All I can say is thank god he was a family friend.
If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.
ha, yea i had a 71 fire bird with a GTO engine bore out to max, cant rmeebr what though, with new cams, headers, two four barrels. anyhow it pumped out 410 ponies to the wheels and cops didnt quite like me for it. But yeah i owuld never tell cop what my car can run. im not that dumb.
In San Bernardino county at least, Sheriff are told to crack down on upgraded cars and those that are upgraded over some pretty small limits get ticketted and can even get your car impounded. My manager at my work had a nice turbo, FEDERALLY legal, on his car and got a sheriff on him who pulled him over. He saw the modified hood and asked to look at the engine. Spotted the system underneath the hood and fined him over $800 and told him he needed to have the modifications removed after a certain date or his car would be confiscated. He came into work next day with the ticket and had to ask the owner for a loan.
really, man. well see my car isnt that upgraded, you cant see a diffrence, it looks stock, runs slightly better than stock. but i dont need anyhting fast no more. i almost killed myself several times in my bird so i just need something with AWD so i can get through the snow at my house, and i like the acceleration.
Land of the free my ass...
yup, now jsut beofre i say anymore i respect cops for what they do, but is it just me or is california turing more socialistic than it shoud be just becasue of the minority of liberals. well im done complaining now.
Well California's famous for having the most laws and regulations than any other state. Then again, we got some crazy mofos here in pretty large numbers in this state or people who would be more than happy to ruin someone's day with something stupid that another state probably wouldn't give a squirt of piss for. Today I was almost killed whle driving up the mountain to seeing a guy on the slow lane on the other side of the highway, cut across his fast lane, cross the double yellow, into MY lane, and into the ongoing fast lane to my right and nearly hitting the damn Tahoe who was next to me. Just so he could reach the damn turn out on side of the road when on the highway, for obvious resons, there are turn outs on their side of the road as well. His vehicle was still functioning fine seeing as how he was able to maintain control and was able to brake profficiently. Almost shit my pants right there and my heart rate was going double for a couple hours afterwards.
Yup, 24601 VC - License Plate Light.
Ok Ronin, KNUCKLE UP!
So you see the officer behind you, and THEN you punch it? Or did you see him as you put the pedal down and just didnt feel like letting off?

it was more like im gona speed up to the legal limit and hold it there so he dosnt have squat on me, plus i did need to speed up not to be run over by a semi, but thats not a good excuse i oculd have waited for him to pass.
When I was a rookie officer I drove a ford escort 4 cylender 5 speed that could not get out of its own way. When I went to work and drove our interseptors te power differance was amazing. The one thing about our crusers was on flat straight highway we could run down about anything that did not have induction. But on the city streets we had more dificulty becouse we could not hold the edge in a corner like some of the smaller inports. I learned this first hand chasing a stolen sab 900. Any way just thought I would give a diffrent persepective on thie thread.

Attitude is everything.
Ok Ronin, KNUCKLE UP!
no doubt, i didnt give the cop attitiude nor would i ever have a bad attitude witha cop. I dont want a ticket, and the only chance i have of getting a warning is having a good attitude then im using it. :D
No doubt on attitude can determin wiehter or not you gett a citation. I remeber on time I pulled a guy for no seatbelt. I was only going to write a warning but when I returned to his vehicle and I handed him his citation he grabbed it form me and said he would see me in court. At which point I took the WARNING back form him. He asked what I was doing and I explanded that he did not have a court date set for a warning that I would need to write his citation so that he could have the court date to see me again. Needless to say the person in question did not report for his court date a paid the fine before the court date.

I was about 20 to 22 years old back in the small town of Oroville. Back then I had this 74 Chevy Camaro that had minor upgrades. Those minor upgrades, unfortunately, were not California legal. Nonetheless, I was pulled over at least once a month for either a tailout not working properly, or a "license plate light out". All to be basicly, excuses to pull me over. Throughout this time, I was getting suspicious as to how often I was pulled over and the broken something or other that I was always given a warning for. Finally, I asked a friend of mine whos father was on the same force. His father told me that there was a known meth dealer that had a simular year and make of car that they needed to look out for. Because of that, officers mastaken me for possibly being him. The other simularity was that he too had long wavy hair. So because of this, the officers of that force new my name. One officer went as far as to ask me to flash off and on my lights so as to not waste each other's time. Each time I've got to say, they had been respectful. Neither one of them bothered to ask (nor do I think they cared) that my Camaro was not smog legal. I think they were going for the guy that WAS trouble. Since then I had heard that the meth dealer was arrested and sent to prison for at least 20 years due to a murder conviction. I had finally seen his car and it was identicle minus the red and white penstripe that mine had. Same year, color , wheels and interior color. Since then, I was caught red handed from them for speeding. I was doing almost 60 down Oro Dam Blvd. It was only a 35. It was my buddy's dad and he let me go with a very stern warning. I mean....STERN. The stink eye, the lecture of what if someone pulled out in front...the works. No ticket and my apology/gratitude.

up here in MA the cops dont do anythin about ppls cars. Down in boston they do tho. My cuzin has a Nisan Skyline Gt R. its got a turbo in it and upgraded like you wouldent beleive. The cops pull him over for evreything, and anything. But as soon as you cross over to New hampshire. the cops dont even care if your speeding, as long as you arent over 100 unless theres a lot of people out on the road.
A college friend of mine use to commute from Stockton to Sacramento ever morning until he got himself a place to stay up here. His uncle who is a CHP officer would pull him over once a while and let him go just to pissed him off. He was no speeder with a bone stock 4 door civic LX unless late for class. One time he got pulled over by another CHP officer who was not his uncle so that really pissed his off big time...
yeah one of my buddies back in high school his dad was the senior CHP cop and he would always pull us over just for kicks. it made me late to school a few times.
I drive a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T 5-speed AWD.
My dad and I have visited HIN off and on, if in town. If you don't already know, my father is now a Captain for Sunnyvale Public Safety ( They're both Firefighters and Police officers). Interestenly enough, theres SO many laws about cars in CA, that he doesn't know them. I had asked him if he would be willing to help my modify my new 1993 Honda Prelude and I plan on getting a new Exhaust, and AEM Short air intake. THe only problem, is that I have to make it smog legal, so I have to make sure that just about all proforence parts are CARB certified.
