loss of tail rotor effectiveness or tail strike will do that too you lol... silly pilot could have avoided that all.

woulda been sick if he had pulled out of it, a nice little 1080 10 feet off the ground woulda been just as cool to watch as this crash
Jan 7, 2006 5:38am
no he is not coming out of that once he started spinning. He struck his tail rotor, if you know even very little about helis the tail rotor keeps then from spinning out of control like that due to the torque of the engine.... When you loose a tail rotor, it is possible to control your decent and land, but you will be spinning like they were. the only way to stop the spin would be to shut down the engine which is obviously worse becuase you turn into a flying heli into a very large stone, and as we know what comes up WILL come down.

what country was that chopper from, ours?

Actually, loss of power in a chopper doesnt make it fall like a rock, pilots (at least military ones) should be able to use the props as sort of a parachute, and they will rotate slightly and slow the decent. I saw it done on the military channel in a big ass dual rotor Chinook. Was kinda crrrazy

the wheels are for pulling the helis on the ground and taxing or scooting as I call it. It has aerodynamic value

That was a Puma helicopter. I have a few jumps out of one of those when I earned my German Jump wings.

did you guys see that guy who falls out the back? I looks like he tries to make a run for it and then the helo flips on its side and the blades hit right were he was at. when the helo first starts spinning look and you can see him fall out and true to make a run for it...bad day for him and every body else!

at first when he falls out the wheel of the helicopter hits him and makes him fall over, then when he gets back up, the blades go right through him....

if you read the box above the video, it says everyone was fine. so the guy who fell out is ok.
