classic army m15a4 screw issue

Jan 9, 2006 3:10pm
Well I don't really recall this an issue but I was trying to figure out which wrench/screwdriver would fit this screw so I can take this magazine catch set off and install my new metal receiver. Does anyone have any ideas what kind of screw is this or what screwdriver would actually fit this? I'll try posting the picture if you can try to identify it.

it looks rectangular to me...go to home depot or something and ask if they sell rectangular bts for stripped screws, or any type of bit for stripped screws for that matter. if they dont have any that work, i would say make your own tool for it...get some clay, put it in the whole, let it dry, and somehow make your own tool with the same demisions.

If only the picture was clear, it actually shaped like a deep ball circle.

well then hopefully you can get pliers, and pull the button thing off and strip the whole screw away...haha but it will suck if you cant find another screw...but the best bet would be to just buy a new mag catch.

That is no problem at all, I found a whole mess of screws for it but I'm just thinking, if you said it will strip the screw, wouldn't it strip the inside of the mag catch as well?

Actually it is not a screw. And from the looks of it you have been trying to use a screw driver and have no stripped it pretty clean of any teeth to grab onto.

I actually I've been trying to use the allen wrench from the beginning but none of them fit unless I'm missing one somewhere, if what you say is true, I guess I'll try once more.

for airsoft, the allen wrench needed is usually fairly tiny. The ones for my p90 and M733 are small and thing enough that I think I might snap it in half when I pick it up.

I wish I could but I don't have a ride, due to the fact that I live in the southern part of California, but like I said I'll try borrowing someone's allen kit or something. Thanks though!
