Hitting power- fps and bb weights
I was reading the article at airsoftplayers n accuracy and I started doing some calculations then started asking questions about the current "standard" (I have no idea who set this, insurance company?) of .2 bbs at 400fps. My thoughts were that airsoft would be a lot more interesting if airsoft guns actually had some variences in them. It appears to me that an M60 is about as effective as an MP5. I was hoping that there would be more players that felt this way. I started asking questions and submitting some ideas and the respondent got real defensive about the current "standard." he started screaming about "safety" and warnings and all kinds of stuff and frankly, he started to sound like a real wimp afraid to get hit by anything that might cause him pain. Frankly, that's the part that appeals to me. I've been a computer game designer for many years and I am SO bored of their being any real consequences to "dieing" that I started playing paintball again after 10 years. I met up with a good group of guys and we had some helacious fights with people having fps of 375 or so it freaking hurt.....and it gave you a freaking adrenalin rush KNOWING that charging the bunker had risks. Well...paintball is lacking in quite a few areas for me so I sought airsoft.....after a few airsoft games, I'm trying to figure out WHY everyone is so reluctant to get HIT! I''ve been hit a dozen times, once in the face, and I have yet to really feel anything. Most of the time I just see bb's bouncing off of me and say, "oh I guess I'm out." Yes, my paintball games would leave me with a few welts and bruises, but so what.....football did that too. Is it just a general consensus that airsoft players are woosies? ;) Just kidding here...as I love the "sport" I certainly don't wish to piss anyone off...(but I'm sure I have, take a chill pill already) but what I'd like to see is someone that takes a second thought about charging an M60 or has little fear in crossing an open field against a berrreta. it would be nice to hook up with a group that doesn't mind a little sting. Even in my national guard days my own tank would leave me bruised around the ribcage from violent maneuvering. At the end of the day, we knew we kicked ass.

I like the tactics part of the game. The stalking and trying to out position the other guy-team. I have been hit and blood drawn on me twice. It was not that bad and all but If it would have just tagged me and left a little welt I would have been cool with that too :lol: . Point is these guys got the drop on me and lit me up. No need to embedd a bb in my chin for me to think about consequences. I am there to out think, and out perform the other guys and damn it one day it will happen :roll: not hurt them at 200' with .46 gram bb.

lol wait till you get a burst in the face with 400+fps(as you want) from about 25feet..... wont be saying it doesnt hurt, it will bruise, maybe cut a bit. Yes a lot of times it hits gear that is too thick to feel it through, whatever. like HK said, you dont like it, leave. go make your own club.
you can always runn around in a t shirt and bike shorts...............

lol poser..anyways try charging me..i have a 500+FPS gun..its a rifle only one shot but ill make it count..the FPS is not set to hurt anyone, its only a game. if you want to run a gauntlet to see what it really feels like let us know ;) hehe i can get a couple of people with some pretty hot guns to line up..

I'm hoping that more "mil-sim" type scenarios would be ran...Because of lack of time on the part of most admins, we are not able to do this...that's where maintman99 comes in....He has scenarios in mind, as well as props...however, he will need funding to build these props...
