I have an M9 which I dropped and now the sucker is working properly and personally I think its the clip but I don't want to buy another clip if the problem isn't fixable. When I have no clip in it I can cock it just fine, even when I have an empty clip in it (no gas/no bbs) it cocks/uncocks just fine. When I have just BBs in the clip it cocks/uncocks fine too but when I put gas in it I cock it and the slide moves almost all the way back but it stops right as the piston thing starts pushing a BB back into the barrel and I have to push it forward with my finger. I don't think its a barrel problem because it works just fine without gas.

I had the same problem with my glock... if you have any local airsoft store you should bring it and ask them to fix it.
