ham radio only way to go
Coolwater airsoft is a bunch of queers hence they all dress pretty and match all the time, most of them are simply adults that live at home still, when they arent doing airsoft stuff they like to play D&D and have circle jerks, they all voted for Jon Kerry and are democrats
Personally, I'd still go with Nokia. Their phones are great...hold up to abuse, great reception, awesome battery life. As of now I think Cingular has them, don't know about the other carriers. Oh btw, this only applies to the "brick" style phones, meaning the slab of plastic...not their flip phones.
I'm not free for a while Devil, when I am I'll give you a PM. 8)
I don't really know much about the Pay-as-you-go plans, but if you are only going to use it in case of emergency then maybe you don't want a monthly plan.

Well it wouldn't be just for emergencies I just don't need a laptop/gps/digicam in my pocket.
sat phone is the only sure way for backwoods stuff and they are strong as shit
+1 stay away from verizon, i cant here u now no matter were the fuk i am. Sprint only work in some ares, they have almost zero service in the boonies, AT&T i think is your best bet, since they merged with cingualr they have double the towers, that means beter recpetion and more ares were yuour not raoming and were u have service. BUT all carriers have dead spots no matter what. IN the phone department stay away from fancy phones like the razor, sliver, vx80, blackberry, chocolate (lgs new one) trio, they all break easly. Nokias brick are reliable and they can take beating. I use to have pay as as u go phone when i wasa firfighter for strike teams, u can put as little as 20$ a month on them but the minutes dont roll over. So matter what your going to be paying atleast 20$ a month, ok im done now, i hope that helps.
I'd rather a pay by month plan. I have no idea how many I will use. Rather not have to worry about it, but I would prefer to stay at or under $30 a month.
u guys r funny ppl (rap ur a dork lol..) cingular sold all the west and half the east sub tower to t moblie, anyways just let me now bro and ill hook u up

hey Erin i have an old, pretty small Nokia 6225 phone from sprint...not sure if you can use it for other carriers, but sprint has great coverage up in forest hill and in Marysville, spenceville, and all the other places we play up in Marysville for sacair games.
I had AT&T for 5 years, then switched to Surewest for 2 years, then MetroPCS for 2 years, and now I have been with Tmobiel for 1yr+.
