Airsoft Sniping

Just a little something I wrote to add to what Apache wrote, great reading Apache!
"There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter."

why did you create a thread and not add on to the other one instead?
God save us everyone will be burning inside the fires of a thousand suns.

because he wrote this before, a while back...

Yeah, I wrote it up a while back and passed it off to Parafrog in Pagan 5. What do you guys think? Does it apply pretty good?

very nice castel very nice pointers, but Gas snipers are REALLY inaccurate unless u have propane and 36. maruzens's, so u should make that more clear

I think we should combine both this and my work into one big jumble of sniper information and make it a sticky. Honestly, I think that would be pretty efficient.

untrue headshot. I have seen and fired gas rifles that can compete against any spring rifle. I have used tanaka rifles with green gas and had VERY good results. (60-80 yard shots). It is all part of how you take care of the rifle, keep it lubed, work with the hopup, barrel, etc. I use .29's most of the time, unless it is REALLY windy, then i use white .36's, DO NOT get the graphite coated ones, if you do, wash it off. The graphite messes with the bb and makes it perform like crap. When washed off and made white, it flies 300% better.

apache...ur newb sniper...ask any EXPERIENCED sniper, spring are ALWAS THE **BETTER** choice. i was just the idiot and bought a gas...the reasons why gas suck

I take exception to the presumption that gas rifles are less effective. I have been playing with a tuned Tanka M24 since 02/04 and have been quite successful running Green with .43's (+/- 500fps). Longest confirmed kill was aprox. 85 yards through brush to the players left cheek. He confirmed my range and said it was quite effective.
And should another macabre spectacle like that occur... I can promise you gentleman a day of reckoning you will not live long enough to never forget. -Way of the Gun

what rifle, headshot?

I have a gas KJW m700 and it's shoots pretty concistently and accurately as well. Since it's a gas system you shouldn't be popping off shots as fast as you can cycle the bolt with the cool down you get. Wait 15-20 seconds between shots and you'll be shooting just fine on green gas. In order to get a spring sniper up to the same power level and range requires you to greatly increase you physical strength if you want to cycle that bolt with one hand while prone. And it wont be a very quiet affair either. My friend upgraded his G-spec to just under 650 FPS on .20s and with his upgraded bolt, it's a damn wrestling match to pull that bolt back and then foreward again. Granted, spring snipers don't need anywhere near that FPS for that kind of range but I have found that many don't feel a tag from a slightly upgraded g-spec at 60-80 yards. Haven't had anyone not feel the hit from my kjw m700 yet at 700fps with .20s on green.

god that is way too much crap to read. can u make a picture version?
Feb 6, 2006 2:30am
hey not all gas guns are so inconsistent... co2 pressure regulated doesnt have that problem.
Feb 6, 2006 5:10am
what he means is, by a propane adapter for about 30 bucks and a regulator, and this allows you to use pure propane instead of green gas (green gas is propane with silicone in it) he is saying use pure propane instead of green gas. what also he is saying is occasionally run green gas through it to apply silicone to some of the parts internally when it is fired. about raising it to spring quality...people can be real biggots about gas rifles because they have been mistreated with them. as long as you take care of the mags, lube the parts and keep good care of your rifle you can make it on par with most highly upgraded spring rifles. granted gas can be unreliable in hot/cold temps, but all you have to do is take care of them! *by this i mean, on a cold day: buy some hand warmers at target or somethin, put them in a sock with your magazine that you are going to use and put the sock in your pocket, and when you need to use your rifle pull out the magazine and it will perform the same as if you were playing on a normal day. on a hot day do the exact opposity put instead of handwarmers, like a small cooled gelpack next to your mag. Finally, the Pegasus system that is featured in all tanaka rifles is undoubtably the best you can get in any gas rifle, it keeps your fps within a 5-15 fps range all of the time. so before some biggots destroy the reputation of gas rifles they should take some time and actually do some maintanence with their rifle.
I think its all about user preference, if you got a gun that works for you regardless of what it is go with it. I myself use a spring powered rifle, I have also shot gas powered rifles and they preformed well too. But I like the simplicity that comes with spring powered rifles, both have their pros and cons. I really didnt want to get into brandnames while writing that paper. I think that one type of weapon is not better than the other, I think they are different, and both types serve their purpose. I think of it like this, "I use what I use, you use what you use, I am happy for you."

well said castle. I think that solved this little argument, thanks.

Well said. Whew, that was some good literature.

The M40a1 in this pic is mine, and when its warm out its a freakin hammer. The downside is, on a cold day it shoots like that clear spring desert eagle you had 3 years ago. hand warmers work nicely though.
And shephards we will be.

Must agree with neo it's the shooter and not the rifle that matters the most. As a rifleman or sniper one should know how to utilize the capabilities of your rifle to it's maximum. We should have a sniper showdown at the hill one of these days :P

yeah, i pretty much agree with the fact that its a marksmanship skill more than the gun itself. I see a ton of aeg users pull out there sniper rifle thats been sitting in there closet for the past two months and use it for a game thinking that the rifle will somehow change them into a sniper. Then the game ends and they're all pissed because the never got a kill, or they kept gettin killed. Its all in the attitude, or mindset for a better word. When an aeg user goes on a feild he looks for the nearest spot, or group to go with. A sniper looks for the spot that no one will see or hear him from. Ive been sniping for a while. The only rifle i have is a sniper. I ended up selling my aeg cause i never used it anymore. The reason why a sniper choses range and acuracy over rof is so he can take a single shot from a distance, make his kill, and not be seen. Its the sniper that choses the rifle, not the other way around.

I did give him a big smile, :D . uggl5 I agree with what you said, it is all a mind set, once you get past the fact that your not going to play Rambo on the field. I spotted for a sniper at the hill a few months ago and learned alot from him, he had an APS-2, he harrassed the enemy and made the enemy move back over and over, we survived the whole game without being hit, up until the end when we got a little too close, sniping is definetly a more enjoyable and safer experience with a spotter. We employed sniper tactics near perfectly that game. The guy with the piercings, I forget his name....
